  1. Nice open. I was about to say the same thing.
  2. If the big club played .500 ball from this point on, it would be a 90-loss season. Box scores! Box scores! Box scores!
  3. It's been 2 hours since someone posted in this thread, so I'll kick in to bump it to the top. Maybe Meyer has the Zika virus? Somebody should ask the question.
  4. WE ARE VERY GOOD AT BASEBALL! GO TEAM! FIGHT TEAM! YAAAAAYYYY TEAM! TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME, TALK ME OFF OF THE WALL!
  5. Everything seemed to tail down and away from my right handed swing. I beat a lot of balls into the ground, and when I tried to go with the pitch I hit what would have been weak pop ups down the right field line. My line drive rate was probably around 10%. I'm finished.
  6. Based on my performance at the 65 mph batting cage this weekend and the fact that I am 45 years old, I think we can declare that I am a bust. Buxton has a little time still.
  7. Can't help it. That Def Leppard story is funny.
  8. Absolutely, I admit it. I just don't mind it at all, any more than I mind the other positional shifts that teams employ.
  9. Only if we can use GPS to make sure that all fielders are within +/- 1 foot of their designated starting position. Also, no more allowing the infield to play in when the tying run is at third. And 3rd basemen can't play even with the bag when a speedy good bunter is up. Also, no protecting the lines in late innings and no playing deep in the outfield for any reason. My GPS rule will ensure all that. Just straight up baseball, with absolutely no positional shifting whatsoever.
  10. Tim Stauffler had it coming.
  11. All systems of checks and balances are complicated. No need to discuss naivete unless we also want to discuss cynicism or other adjectives. I understand that players would continue to try to work around the checks and balances. I just think that there are valid uses of drugs for recovery that would trigger PED violations under today's rules and that those valid uses could be allowed. I'm not a doctor (or a chemist), so I can't say that definitively, but that's what my understanding leads me to believe.
  12. I don't understand. You think teams would more frequently abuse the DL than you admit they do now? That they would DL a non-injured player for the sole purpose of letting the player take recovery drugs prescribed by a doctor for a non-existent injury? A player wouldn't have carte blanche access to PEDs just because they were DL'ed. They would get a prescription from a doctor that would be for 7 or 10 or however many days the doctor prescribed. Baseline and follow-up blood testing could be implemented such that a player couldn't come off the DL until their pre-prescription baseline levels returned (thus, no drugs in their system). Obviously protocols would have to be developed. Help me understand the concern about increases in abuse in this scenario. (And you may well be right - I just don't understand that concern at this point.)
  13. I think PEDs should be approved for injuries that put a player on the DL. They recover, they come off the approved list (of course, we'd refer to them as RD - Recovery Drugs - instead). Increase testing and install penalties for athletes taking RDs outside of DL stints. Also install penalties for teams that have players on their team or in their system who are caught using PEDs or RDs outside of DL stints, including loss of draft picks or international player pool money.
  14. I predict he will walk out onto the field and say "did we win yet?"
  15. I agree that Meyer should get a start...sooner rather than later, but it seems to me that the only place Molitor intends to put him in is in a blowout game as a reliever. I think the smart move is for Meyer to start in Milone's next start. The worst** that could happen is that he gives you something less than 5 innings, which is no different than what you have gotten from Milone. **I know that's not the literal worst thing that could happen. A yet to be observed meteor could come crashing to earth wiping out the dinosaurs that are secretly hidden away in a secure facility in southwestern Australia, which could result in Meyer only going 2 or 3 innings, so bear with my usage of "worst" and focus on my point that I'd like to see Meyer start instead of Milone because Milone hasn't been very good and Meyer needs a shot.
  16. 2. Maybe 3 if the first 2 don't come in the next week. Like if it is 2 over 10 days, then 3.
  17. Brian probably won't respond on here because you know how he is, but I just saw him in the hall between class and he thinks you're beautiful, and that you should keep going the other way, too. I have no idea what any of that means, but you should ask him to prom.
  18. I don't know, but we're 2-0 with Meyer on the roster, and only 1-0 with Berrios.
  19. just strike out Miggy, so Arcia can walk us off.
