Odorizzi dug down to get through six. I liked that Monitor let him go out for the seventh on a short leash. Duke had a good outing. The hit was a shift beater from Mesoroco. Reed didn't seem to have his best command. He was frustrated with a couple calls. Huge double play assisted by Votto sliding about 15 feet in front of the bag. Wtf? I think Rodney had 9 balls and 4 strikes at one point. It was definitely an outing that makes one understand where "The Experience" comes from. Nice to get a W, but still a long way to go.

Article: CIN 15, MIN 9: It Got Even Worse

Hildenberger has been figured out and is completely ineffective. Time to swap for Curtiss. If cutting bait on Hughes is off the table, give him the Hale role. Put Hale back on the pile where you found him. Give Slegers a shot at #5 until Gonsalves or Romero are deemed ready. Duffy has been horrible in two appearances, so one more becomes a trend. Give him a shot to break the trend? Nick Anderson and Jake Reed may be worth a look. Is Bard back? That's all I got.- 70 replies

Those inherited runners are almost guaranteed to score -
Gordon has about 3 times as many career errors in MiLB as Escobar in MLB with only about 50% more chances at SS playing against much lighter competition. I don't think he's going to be fixing anything with the big club defense.

I'm not expecting a series win from these Twins in the least. If a playoff hopeful team was playing a series against the Jays at home, my expectations would be much higher.

@ home against Cincy won't change my outlook, but it could solidify it 5-1 or 6-0 against the Reds and Jays combined ... Possibly, but I'm not holding my breath If the Twins are really a playoff hopeful, they should absolutely destroy a pitching lineup of Castillo, Romano and Mahle and then follow that up with a home series win against Toronto.

Still waiting for Kepler to get a permanent spot in the top four of this order .... He's gotten on base at least once every game he's started .... Why you wouldn't want that type of production early and often in the lineup just doesn't make sense. At least he moved ahead of Morrison Molitor must love him some Eddie R with the 63 wRC+ Sano is slowly starting to clean up the outlier badness and has his BB% up to 10 and K% down to 40 from 50 (that still needs to go down at least another 10), so I get leaving his right-handed power bat where it is. Dozier Mauer Sano Kepler Escobar Almost a no-brainer And at this point, there is no reason to pull Kepler vs. any LHP ... The pinch hitter will likely give a downgraded PA

Article: Is it Time for a Roster Reshuffle?
slash129 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Expectations for this year were too high. Time for a reset. Things to be excited about: 1) Berrios: He still has some edges to grind down, but he's an appointment player. 2) Kepler looks to be breaking out. Hopefully, he'll be batting 2-4 for most of the rest of the season. 3) A chance to see the next wave of talent. Don't get overly excited about any single one of them, because they aren't all going to light it up or even work out. 4) Trade deadline. Although I'm not looking forward to this, because I'm still in the Dozier-for-life camp, and I'd like to see Escobar stick around as well. However, the Twins have assets that should be relatively easy to move regardless of return (They're all darts anyway). 5) Joe Mauer. This one is sure to be polarizing, but he still takes better PAs than most do most of the time. 6) Rooting for Yankee demise. Go Red Sox!! -
Kinley is an easy scapegoat right now. There are other investments that need to be eaten ahead of Kinley, but outside forces may be coming into play (e.g. How much pressure do Falvine and Molitor have to squeeze value out of Hughes?). Losing Bard shouldn't be in the argument anymore. If the Twins want him back, he's there for $50K. The way decisions are going down seems to be in line with an FO more concerned about viability for 2019 and beyond than 2018 playoff hopes. Next year Kinley can be dropped in Arteaga's lap for half a season or so and maybe that stuff turns into production.

A lot will have to change to actually be a contender for wild card #2. Houston, Anaheim, Boston, New York, Cleveland, Toronto, Seattle ... Twins not in that league

Those coolers are expensive enough that you almost have to take a lease out on them.

I hope Molitor keeps Berrios on his normal rest and gives him game 1 against the Yankees. I've read some notes that Phil Hughes may pitch Sunday against the Rays pushing Odorizzi to Monday at the Bronx. Berrios will be up to the challenge of going into Yankee Stadium on Monday. I'm not trying to say that Odorizzi isn't, but Berrios is on a different level right now. Start the series with him. He can keep Stanton cold and get the boobirds going early in the series.

The trickle effect of Buxton. How many are wondering if Kepler would have played dagger to the heart on Lindor's HR? It was a wall scraper. It would have been a tough play, but Grossman jumped about two feet past the crossing point. I entertained that thought, but eventually just settled for "good for Lindor".

I thought they were just going with the flow. They gave Odorizzi props until the top of the sixth. You can't really blame them for overstating the Lindor bomb. That moment is exactly what they wanted in a short series like this for the people there. Did they fluff it up? Yes. But, it was a moment more deserving of the drool than a lot of others this season (like anytime Ohtani touches a baseball, we're supposed to stop what we're doing). Kluber deserves all the recognition he gets. Hopefully, Berrios can step up tonight and make this the kind of night for Twins fans and his family/friends that Lindor/Kluber gave the Cleveland fans and the Lindor family last night.

Good for Lindor. I'm happy for the guy. Hoping Berrios can do something similar tonight to place an early top moment on his career. If the top of the order was Dozier, Mauer, Kepler, our lineup would probably get to see 15-20 pitches out of the gate each game. Anyone want Luke Bard back? Could happen ... lol.
