  1. You pretty much nailed it right there. Unfortunately, TD seems to amplify the overreactions. This is evident when I only have to click one time to change from a page with a "What's Wrong with the Twins" article to an "Offense Take Flight" article. I probably wouldn't have even had to click, but the MLB draft just happened to take place between the crest and trough of the current wave.
  2. Are Lewis and Kirilloff chopped liver? No chance to win hitter of the day? J/k ... I'd probably gamble on Rooker's day meaning no edit as well.
  3. Since I feel the Dozier train has already left the station sans QO, Escobar is the guy I hope they keep. He's a gamer and has made so many strides as a hitter. If he doesn't get the big hit, he often helps ruin the pitch count. He can play anywhere on the field, which makes him a natural in the neo-shift era. Last, but not least, he always brings passion and levity to the field. Echoing Tom: It would be at least disappointing to seem him in another jersey next season. Jeremy's take on the July purge is where I'm at though. I'm not sure Falvine share any of our sentiments. I sometimes feel like they have some crazy, mad-scientist, five-year formula that will require a Tibetan monk's patience to follow and hopefully not result in a fan base looking like sheeple.
  4. To be fair Rupp has done that over the course of his career ............ against LHP
  5. AA player with career 547 OPS comes to save the day .... LOLOLOLOL
  6. Where did this comp come from? Killer or Schmitty seem the more obvious dreams.
  7. The Twins are down non-healthy Mauer, Buxton, Castro and Morrison. They are also down Polanco. Dozier got his second game off of the year in game 2 (although he has PH'd in both) .... I'll take the split, especially considering the weak contact and BABIP luck that Lopez had going for him in game 1.
  8. Terrin Vavra gets picked by the Rockies. Good for him!
  9. A warm welcome to Trevor and Ryan. I hope both are signed quickly, stay healthy and start their seasoning as they journey to hopeful MLB debuts in the future. I don't closely follow high school or college baseball, so I'll stay away from armchair quarterbacking the FO. They have likely put thousands of hours into scouting, analytics and evaluations. All we have are reports from Mayo and Co., and they are basically the equivalent of clowns selling balloons at the carnival.
  10. Kirilloff is a hitting stud. When I watched the Kernels in May, he DH'd one game and played RF one game. He didn't appear to have a ton of range or the strongest arm out there, but that was my one SSS viewing. Any more valuable reports on his defense in general?
  11. Do the Twins really need Petit at this point in the season, when someone like Busenitz could come in and downtrend the overuse of Pressly and Reed? Either can be used in high leverage situations (although I do think Pressly is better starting a clean inning), but Busenitz could reduce the need to use Pressly in those one out situations.
  12. Probably time to push "The Anatomy of a Failing Offense" article down several more spots on the board .... The Twins have 39 runs in their last 6 games ... That's 3/4 of a run better than the Yankees average
  13. Only one token rep for sure ... Maybe that token player can go on to work for FSN and have a caption under their name about being a 2018 All-Star
  14. The holdout just helped him get fat, and he's been round in shape all season.
  15. With both teams going nowhere fast, Gardy's gotta get tossed today on principle just to provide the fans with some entertainment.
  16. The bookends of those slash lines are getting pretty close to what he did last year in Rookie and A+ ball. The number in the middle still has a ways to go. Hopefully, as he gets fully adjusted to the AA pitching, he can start to take more control of the zone. If he continues to the current trend of mashing, then the pitchers may start to be a bit more careful and the walks will increase that way as well.
  17. Romero stays in the rotation. Lance Lynn makes this a non-issue with his well below replacement level contributions. If Romero's workload needs to be managed, there are many ways of doing that. The reason it may need be managed is that pitchers who have been injured are the most likely to get injured, not because of the verducci effect.
  18. Lynn has basically given the team a chance to win twice, and they've won twice in his starts. They let him down against Houston and picked him up against Anaheim to even it out. His only quality start was against the worst team in the MLB. I know there are ups and downs with all the players, but this is about as close to no value as it gets. He's on pace for about (-2) to (-3) WAR (if that's even possible, I'm not sure if it's linear as it builds). Aaron Slegers has gotta be saying, "Can I have a try?" Not to mention the obvious Gonsalves
  19. I wonder what the minor league record is, since he won't qualify for the major league record.
  20. Lewis needs to eat a few more sandwiches before they get to fast-tracking him too quickly. Watching him from a fews rows back at Veterans Stadium, I could tell his physical maturity isn't exactly complete. Asking him to adjust to this and adjust to that in short sequences while also adjusting to his body filling out doesn't sound to me like the best recipe for success. Obviously, he's raking (mostly singles), but he's not the man-child that Harper was at the same age. (And I'm not trying to set Harper as a bar ... He's just an example of a young player that was physically mature at a younger age and was fast-tracked) I'm also not sure that his leg kick is going to be something that he keeps while moving through the system. It's pretty exaggerated. Every player is different, but it just doesn't seem like pre-swing movement that is going to work well moving up the ladder of competition. He's an exciting player, but I wouldn't throw him out in the deep end just yet.
  21. Thank you for these articles. Well-informed, expert perspective is welcome reading. I won't look forward to the next one, but I'll look for it when the inevitable happens.
  22. Gordon, Wade, Thorpe and Stewart ... Good package for a rebuilding club .... Gotta give to get
  23. It only tells what happens in the batter's box. Last time I checked, there is a lot of baseball that happens outside the batter's box.
