  1. I noticed the lack of this as well. For example, Topps has their moments of the week: 1) The Mets five pitchers starting together and the team going 5-0. 2) Andrew McCutchen getting two walk-off hits 3) Scott Kingery having a 6 game hitting streak (Dozier has 11) 4) Gerrit Cole striking out 10 guys in three consecutive games 5) Bryce Harper hitting his 7th home run Joe couldn't even make that list, especially over Kingery, which I thought was pretty lame.
  2. A twilight batting title would likely seal the deal for Joe. I hope he can stay healthy and make that a reality. Players with four or more batting titles: Honus Wagner HOF Ty Cobb HOF Rogers Hornsby HOF Harry Heilmann HOF Ted Williams HOF Stan Musial HOF Roberto Clemente HOF Rod Carew HOF Bill Madlock Wade Boggs HOF Tony Gwynn HOF Miguel Cabrera Cabrera is probably first ballot. That leaves Madlock as the only player to win four batting titles and not make the Hall. One of his titles came in the strike shortened season of '81. That's quite a list, and I would think if Mauer joined it, he gets the call.
  3. Looks like it will be Kluber/Carrasco instead of Carrasco/Bauer ... Tough break with the schedule, but the Twins will get another good test. Hopefully, they can break through against Kluber. They got close against Verlander. Those are the pitchers you have to find a way to beat, if you want to go deep into the playoffs. Each team has two players representing the local fans, so it will be interesting to see who gets the crowd. Lindor is the lone All-Star, but Berrios will hopefully get the spotlight for the longest.
  4. Early season cherry-picking ... how nice. You forgot to mention "our own" Hildenberger and Polanco. It's not just "the other guy's" guys that have done little to help. All available options for fielding a competitive team need to be utilized. If you just want to promote the young guys early, then you will get the 2000 Twins. I think they won about 70 games.
  5. Pitching was dominate from start to finish. Can't say enough about Berrios, but it was also impressive watching Pressly and Moya just pickup where he left off.
  6. I'm indifferent towards the Padres. Is that worse than hating the Yankees or White Sox?
  7. Agree that Sano's K-rate is unacceptable, but at the end of the day, he's still OPSing 925. Rosario and Kepler are fresh on the mind, but Sano has gotten plenty of big hits for this team - the knockout punch off Paxton being the biggest. Also, while he hasn't played a perfect 3B, he's definitely made plays like that laser to nail Altuve the other day. While Rosario has made some plays defensively - firing and getting G Polanco at the plate, his play has mostly been erratic. Definitely not carrying the team. More of the same yesterday with that air mail over Dozier's head and a very close call when not yielding to the Platinum Glove centerfielder.
  8. Hoping for Lance Lynn to play Doc Ellis on Saturday? I just don't see Berrios being that guy. Lynn has seemed crazy enough in some of his interviews that, well, maybe.
  9. Lucas Giolito - who used to live beside the ocean - has had some command issues with 7 walks and 4 hit batters in 11 plus innings so far this season. Twins need to stay with the patient approach that Mr. Kepler spoke of yesterday. Make Giolito feel lonely and dreaming of the west coast while out on the cold, dampish, 43° Minnesota mound tonight, and I think the good guys can have some big innings. On a related note, the White Sox also lead the league in getting hit, so this might not be the series for heavy Duke usage.
  10. So maybe a little more Pressly ® and Moya (L) with the game in balance and a little less Duke(L) and Hildenberger® .... The Rodney Experience will have to play itself out at least until the marketing department recoups the expense for putting together his entrance show (which is actually pretty cool)
  11. I don't know which Zach Duke you're watching, but he has not generally come through. The numbers don't lie. He has no command. The Zach Duke Experience has been worse than the Fernando Rodney Experience. The Twins may need to employ Devan Dubnyk as a special assistant for Castro and Garver to keep up on their blocking skills.
  12. How long until Kepler's hitting after Mauer against RHP? Hope the breakout continues.
  13. Understood, but considering the roster make-up between football and baseball, I might give more 4th quarter snaps to players lower on the two-deep who produced when they did get snaps and then give the WR who dropped three passes and RB who fumbled twice a little more time on the sideline.
  14. Eddie Rosario is not going to be "just fine", if he continues to play with a lack of patience and surplus amount of reckless abandon. I doubt anyone is questioning his talent. Molitor and Co. need to find a way to deliver a wake-up call. It doesn't matter to me if it's a series on the bench or a Gibson-esque option. It's not like this org is lacking in LH corner outfielders with plus defensive profiles. Two of them happen to be on the 40. Counting trying hard as a plus for a major league baseball player is a soft cop out. Every player on the team is or very well should be trying hard. Saying "at least he's trying hard" should be saved for the soft kid batting 13th on a house league youth team, because his mom signed him up for baseball so he would do something other than play Fortnite and eat candy.
  15. Blankenhorn seems like the minor league version of Steve Pearce. Goes on streaks where he hits everything and his manager has to try to hide him all over the field where he plays poorly. 1B/DH would be nice, but he has to get in line.
  16. I'll see your 'possible' and raise you a 'likely first ballot'.
  17. Option Eddie Bench LoMo Start using Pressly in high-leverage instead of Hildenberger
  18. Hey, Ken Giles, ever seen Kill Bill? My name's Buck and I like to [hit game tying homers].
  19. Way to go Pressly! Best part of this game.
