  1. Jokin, I think Thrylos believes Beloit won't be the A- affiliate of the Twins. They will start (and likely finish) at A- next year. Kepler, Buxton, D-Rod, Jimenez, and Pineda in the OF for Beloit next year?
  2. Great for them and a smart for the Twins to promote when they ought to do so.
  3. Valencia brought back comparable value to Liriano (since I think Escobar is a never-will in terms of amounting to anything)!!!
  4. The past hatred for Valencia and the current hatred around here of trading Valencia for an OF prospect is pretty funny.
  5. Do you think he would have been productive for the Twins? That is the appropriate question.
  6. How terrible does this guy have to be before he is recognized as done sunk cost?
  7. With personality? No, Valencia has no place on the Twins roster. The move is good for both Valencia and the Twins.
  8. I don't think so. Certainly not for the Twins. And I can see the Red Sox viewing Valencia and the Green Monster favorably.
  9. There are going to be a number of empty 40-man spots available after this season. Florimon might be the direct beneficiary of this move (the Twins adding both Nishi and Florimon for September makes more sense now).
  10. I forgot about JD Williams' struggles as well. This is good to get something of value for Valencia, even though I am sure everyone would have preferred a similarly located pitcher. Now can someone claim Casilla? Pretty please?
  11. I like this. With the potential collapse of Angel Morales and doubts about Danny Ortiz, this is a nice move. It will be interesting to see Pineda when he gets to Beloit (hopefully right away, with a Nate Roberts promotion).
  12. Koch has a .780 OPS at Beloit. He turns 24 in three months and is part of the logjam that is the Twins organization in terms of how it views AAA (so if Herrmann and Pinto don't get promoted a level, it only makes sense to keep Koch where he is as well-unfortunately). After struggling mightily in July, Koch hopefully turns things around in August.
  13. Herrmann continues to plug away at New Britain, with a .739 OPS. He now has 848 plate appearances at AA. That comes with a .265/.361/.393 line and 15 homers. A backup catcher and 5 OF who gets on base at .350 and slugs .390 would be valuable for the Twins.
  14. Any thoughts on Dozier being the 2B of the future instead of the SS?
  15. Speaking for myself, the Twins organization has burnt me the hell out this year! (and I was both simultaneously really busy and really lazy, if that makes sense) I like John's general idea as well as the contest idea. I can see how already highly productive bloggers might take some issue, though. To address Jim's concern, I would think other blog posts about Cedar Rapids or whatever could be welcomed as part of the two posts requirement.
  16. Hopefully they use the AFL for other guys to get some more at bats. I don't think Arcia needs that. Angel Morales is a clear case.
  17. Has anyone looked at other organizations to see the prevalence of this kind of thing with them too. It seems egregious right now, but I would like a comparison.
  18. The Twins are the slowest at promoting position players, or at least they were pre-2011. Then they decided to have their best prospects skip AAA altogether. Doesn't work (only for Arcia would it make any sense). Chris Herrmann is stagnating. Josmil Pinto is as well. Maybe Matthew Koch would do better if he was promoted (I wouldn't overlook the letdown that players experience when they are blocked, blocked, blocked) Rene Rivera is not worth keeping catching prospects from progressing. I don't like the Twins currently trading one pitcher for one pitcher. I do NOT get the Escobar involvement in this trade. Pedro Florimon, James Beresford, and Danny Santana may ALL be better overall than this guy.
  19. I hate the prospect of Liriano have a great 2013 with the White Sox.
  20. We don't need a 5th starter type and a middle infielder with low upside.
  21. 5.7 k/9 this year in the minors. It's good that he is still fairly young.
  22. Ok, hopefully trade time is done. This is just terrible. Trading within THE DIVISION is one thing, but doing it and getting next to nothing in return for a guy who at least is 50% very good, is absolutely ridiculous.
  23. The Reds will get Victorino.
  24. So really a "no" on all of these guys?
