  1. Carroll at SS and Dozier at 2B is the rather obvious defensive change that should happen RIGHT NOW, but Gardy . . .
  2. Las Vegas is a terrible place for baseball.
  3. Great post! That was informative and cleared up a lot for me.
  4. He said that!? I mean he is terrible, but Duensing also doesn't belong as a starter. Good god . . . they had to switch in-game from the windup to the stretch. That's atrocious.
  5. Well he turns away and looks and sees Revere running in beside him so then he turns around and then did actually move quickly toward the ball. Of course he should have not made it look he could see it and was calling Span off. Ok, i just watched the slo-mo replay and it does look worse than in real time . . .
  6. That's actually not what happened.
  7. I just watched it and I don't like Nishioka at all, but if Gladden said that then he is blatantly lying to make Nishioka look worse. Nishioka clearly thought it landed behind him and turned his back to look for the damn ball. It actually landed on the infield side and he turned around as soon as he heard it fall. It's pretty disgusting when announcers have to start in on players like that
  8. And as I have said elsewhere, I submit Brian Dozier, Chris Parmelee, Joe Benson, and Rene Tosoni as guys who clearly spent way too little time in AAA before being thought of as MLB-ready. The Twins held them back in AA and then gave them (the first two) way too little time in AAA. Dozier's AAA numbers this year should have raised red flags. Parmelee's sustained time in AAA is going to help him.
  9. Yeah, well it also took NBR AWHILE to put these two where they belong at 1-2 in the lineup. I don't understand how that wasn't obvious from the get-go. Maybe they were trying to develop them into better hitters, and judging by the BA's rising some and Hicks' improved power, it may have worked (I hope that is why they didn't start the season 1-2, anyway).
  10. Well, I don't want to go down this path again, but I think there is value to AAA playing time for all but the top prospects (like Arcia). Hicks, Benson, Herrmann, Romero, and Colabello all should go to AAA. The first three are clearly above average prospects and the latter two at least are showing above average power this year.
  11. Like strangely using Brian Duensing in the starting rotation now when there's no way in hell any sane manager would do that next year?
  12. Dunn will be the comeback player of the year. Awhile ago I went way out on a limb and said the Twins would win 80 games. That was before these last 12-15 games or so. That isn't as stupid a prediction now as it was back then. DeVries or Walters might make for long relief out of the bullpen, but I think all three of them might start behind Gibson in the Rochester rotation next year to provide depth for when Nick Blackburn actually starts rolling out a 10.00+ ERA next year.
  13. You don't think they, as catchers, are worthy of being promoted? Herrmann's OPS is around .740 at New Britain, Pinto's OPS is over .800 in Fort Myers, and Koch's is around .765 at Beloit. These are catchers, not OF or 1B!
  14. Plenty of New Britain players would step in immediately as starters for Rochester, and Herrmann is one of them. Rene Rivera, Brian Dinkelman, and Clete Thomas are too important to have in the organization though!
  15. Exactly. I want nothing to do with Parmelee in the OF. Please no.
  16. The Twins parting with both Span and Morneau would struggle to compete next year.
  17. No they were not reasonable to expect. Again, Blackburn and Marquis being bad was a fair prediction. Being the worst in baseball was not a reasonable expectation. ERAs around 5 is one thing, around 7 or 8 is truly barbaric. I think some people have already forgotten how completely terrible the starting pitching was into May. Blackburn and Pavano were hurt the whole time (likely), Liriano had to move to the 'pen for awhile, and they had to actually send Marquis packing. None of that could have been expected. It was a complete disgrace. And I forgot to even mention Hendriks! I did not imagine him being that terrible either. They had 4 guys with 7-8.00 ERAs! And Pavano who was around or over 5.00!
  18. Nick Blackburn being THIS terrible, Jason Marquis being THAT terrible, Pavano returning to injury-form, Danny Valencia being THAT terrible, Brian Duensing forced into the starting rotation, neither Joe Benson nor Chris Parmelee being a factor this year are/were unexpected, I think. You could say that you knew the first four mentioned were bad players, but no way could you predict that they would be this awful.
  19. Morneau is the one bat I would be willing to give up, but I don't think it is *needed* to get quality starting pitching. The team is 38-35 in its past 73 games. That's what . . . a 85 win pace or so? Two pitchers for $20-25 million and the eventual promotion of Gibson could raise that number to 92-95, right?
  20. No, no, no. No reason whatsoever to add a player who has been terrible the past three seasons and who would take playing time away from Dozier, Nishioka (and hopefully Florimon).
  21. Clearly there is a benefit to having ONE minor league team remotely in the MLB team's general vicinity! I would hope that, if not CR, then it isn't farther away than Beloit (for those in MN's sake).
  22. Yes. The skull density there is mind-boggling.
  23. I wouldn't mind that .330 OBP batting 9th next year. Clearly not if he is batting second (or first).
  24. I think that Revere could likely bring back more in the offseason, while Span would at the deadline. I would rather keep both, trade Morneau for said high SP prospect, keep the OF defense stellar, and make Parmelee the everyday 1B next year.
