  1. For Frisco. Just an FYI for Benson haters.
  2. Yeah, that is true. He sorta has to hit well because he isn't going to slug and his ISO numbers are the same this year as his career numbers. This is much like Ben Revere, but of course JB has the advantage of being in the middle infield. Speaking of, he really projects to be a SS. I think the Twins know he can play there and so they are letting Santana sink or swim at SS before likely flipping them.
  3. Hicks will be fine for a week. Anyway, Herrmann did play 11 games in CF in 2010. And honestly, I don't think he is much different than Ramirez out there.
  4. Wacha's strikeout numbers plummeted though. It's a pretty frightening drop, actually. He had 40 Ks in 21 innings last year and has 34 in over 52 this year. By the way to most of the rest of, my first example was of a non-signee, and a fairly predictable one at that. That's just not the same as comparing player to player (and pooh-poohing that).
  5. I noticed and noted this the other day and reiterated in the Herrmann thread today. In 51 at bats during the day this year, Herrmann's OPS is .352. In 100 at bats at night he is .290/.360/.360 (.720). First, what the hell? Even with a smallish sample size, that is a dramatic difference. What can explain that? (I am not going to try to control for other variables like . . . catching days games after playing the night before, whether there were a bunch of day games in some two week period where he really struggled, etc.). Second, that changes the apprehensiveness of that .596 OPS somewhat. The night numbers are really not that different from what I would have expected of him, other than about 30 points of slugging.
  6. Actually, seriously. 100 AB in night games for a .290/.360/.360 line.
  7. I just got a little sick to my stomach. Hopefully this injury isn't a big deal.
  8. Chris Herrmann has been recalled by the Twins as Wilkin Ramirez is headed to the 7-day DL. This move is likely only to last for the remainder of Trevor Plouffe's DL stint, so Herrmann may only be with the team for the Brewers 4 game split series. I am sure Gardy will try to get him one or even two starts somewhere. Hopefully per my last post, he isn't starting in tomorrow's day game. Chris was 3-for-7 in his last two games, so his numbers are inching up there.
  9. Pretty good list. I might not alter too much from your top 20, actually. I don't know about Mejia yet. I am not dropping Herrmann that far either. Hudson Boyd probably needs to move to the bullpen.
  10. Cheers for Chris. Who knows what they would have done to the 40-man roster next if calling up Richardson or Thomas. Um, can I adopt another prospect for 7 days and provide 2-3 posts? Actually someone like Aderlin Mejia might be worth that glimpse.
  11. Ah, this was not meant to be a serious analysis of the damn draft, it was meant to just point out how players who could have been drafted have performed. WOW. Anyway, The Puck, you are right about that year and Pedroia. Even when Pedroia was verging on the majors, though, I didn't think there was any expectation for him to be this kind of offensive player. I believe that the defense was his projected best part of his game. Jokin, it's the Mets so WHO KNOWS? I can't imagine him not seeing AA this year, so that could mean all sorts of things for next year. Wittgren has improved on those numbers from just a few days ago.
  12. I don't mind actual hard names like Dougie and AJ. But there is some weird repeated mistakes with Colabello and Arcia. Liriano as Lariano was bad.
  13. I missed this until now. I completely agree, without a doubt. I wish Purdue would have payed attention three years ago.
  14. Santana and Beresford are impressive. We could be looking at them at some point next year in a Twins uniform.
  15. He was totally fine through five, though AGAIN a Twins pitcher can't get through the first inning without giving up a run. This has got to be something with preparation and coaching. Anyway, Pelfrey may really not be able to stay strong past 90 or so pitches right now. It isn't that surprising given his injury last year (which is why he should have been in EST until May).
  16. Gibson, Diamond, Correia, Walters, and Deduno should probably be the starting five. I realize that means that Gibson will only be with the Twins for two months, which is a problem.
  17. Gibson is now nearly the 1/2 mark of a likely innings limit around 140. This is what I was afraid of in spring and was laughed at for caring about the guy pitching for the Twins in August and September. Right now would he even get through the second half of July on this innings limit? Gibson should never have been throwing more than 6ish innings per game in Rochester and should have been starting at 3 or 4 only.
  18. And I am *NOT* a Gleeman fanboy. I'm just sayin'
  19. I am actually eager to hear this G&G coming up. Gleeman's twitter feed is pretty indicative of his view on this matter, especially considering the presence of Butera, Hermsen, Robertson, DeVries, Deduno, Hernandez, and Ramirez on the 40-man roster (aside from USA Chief's correct point about Gibson over Walters).
  20. That's not bad, then. Thanks for providing some DETAILS. As those, you know, were actually needed for this story.
  21. Would anyone have B.J. Hermsen, for instance, higher on the Twins' prospect list than Joe Benson. And, who in their right mind would claim him? Cole DeVries?
  22. But please let me get this straight, are there people here who actually approve of this move?
  23. You mean, "A bunch of condescending pricks around here." Or, "A condescending bunch of pricks around here."
