  1. Williams is now at .263/.409/.492 (.901) and has stolen nine bases. I would like to see him at the top of the Fort Myers lineup real soon. There is no reason why he shouldn't be promoted.
  2. I have now read some whiners on FB and I want to punch them. THIS WAS and IS the greatest American comedy show ever. Full stop. Fans know this. So don't whine. Good god.
  3. Fantastic analysis. This is a very insightful thing. Um, can you pass this along to the Twins?
  4. This is spot on. He is swinging at first pitches often now. It's not a good idea to have someone jump a level and then be a leadoff man. That is a lesson learned. He has been able to relax and swing more freely. As a leadoff man he would get behind in the count and panic some. Or panic a lot.
  5. Herrmann is as much there for OF reasons (and backup CF) as catching. He's Wilkin's replacement.
  6. What the hell? I thought the Dozier thing was just because of the NL lineup. This is just a mess. What is wrong with this manager?
  7. So let's run through these: -Arcia-Hicks-Parmelee (ok, not a great defense at all, and a question in RF offensively, and this assumes someone else is around next year to play 1B) -Arcia-Hicks-Doumit or Colabello (not real RF at all) -Arcia-Hicks-Ramirez (Ramirez as a starter? Yikes) -Arcia-Hicks-Mastro (Mastro as a starter? yikes) Danny Ortiz has actually improved his numbers WITH the move up this year to AA. That is encouraging. And Benson got away and his smacking a homer a game at the moment. The point is that the Twins have now gotten rid of Span, Revere, and Benson with Aaron Hicks having a very slow adjustment time to big league baseball. I thought that the CF position was to be valued?
  8. Um, can you imagine Mauer and Votto back to back?????
  9. This is a very good post. Some perspective is needed. I would much rather have a rotation of Gibson, Diamond, Correia, Worley, and Hendriks than continue to mess around with retreads and proven AAAA pitching. Until Meyer and May are ready, I wouldn't mind seeing Andrew Albers get his shot as the 6th man here. He is likely a better replacement for Anthony Swarzak, who is soon to cost more of that moneys.
  10. I guess I just am not clear about this MN OF situation. I see two guys, Hicks and Arcia, as playing the OF next year. Willingham MUST be traded and either Morneau or Parmelee will be at first with the other likely just gone. Seems like Benson competing with Danny Ortiz would have been a good thing. They could have actually platooned in LF or RF.
  11. I think I qualified my statement with "the handling pitchers" aspect of the game. The declining CS%, the passed balls, etc. seem to indicate declining defense. Your claim is that he IS a PREMIUM defensive catcher. He may HAVE BEEN a premium defensive catcher (2010), but I certainly do not think he is one currently. The Twins are not clueless morons, but they may be, you know, slightly mistaken about the defensive value of Drew Butera. I have said this before, but if there were only a way to just sign this guy long term for a few hundred thousand to just be an organizational catcher floating around where the best prospect pitchers are that would be fantastic.
  12. Honorable mentions to Dan Rohlfling and Kyle Knudson.
  13. Here is my updated prospect list as the Twins head into the draft. I do this in order to provide context for my post-draft list. The post-draft list will be in detail (pre-season ranking in parentheses). 1. Byron Buxton (4) 2. Miguel Sano (1) 3. Oswaldo Arcia (3) 4. Kyle Gibson (8) 5. Alex Meyer (5) 6. Eddie Rosario (6) 7. 15. Do you have evidence that he is? Certainly I think he is good at working with pitchers--there is no doubt about that. His CS% has fallen off a cliff after 2010. It would seem that people (including Gardenhire) fell in love with his "defensive prowess" after 2010 and then ignored what has become of that defense in the past two years. Do we want to compare the number of passed balls vs. Mauer?
  16. It is definitely true around here that people blow the waiver wire way the hell out of proportion with "x number of teams passed on him . . ." and make bad conclusions outside of the context of the waiver wire. You are now comparing the waiver wire in late May to a trade deadline deal. Those are very different situations, especially when the player mentioned is merely an add-in to the deal.
  17. I know! "Two years" is just garbage. Can't wait to see if he smacks another one today.
  18. Hermsen isn't in my new top 40 prospects, and maybe not in the 41-50 range. That ship sailed. And no one was going to claim him.
  19. Drew Butera isn't a premium defensive catcher.
  20. You mention Mauer and Arcia and I am the one with "selective" memory? Those are outliers. With regard to Parmelee, it doesn't matter what age he was. He still needed time in AAA before skipping a level to join the Twins, especially to join and be a bench player. I absolutely think that if they had handled things differently last year, it would have been beneficial for him. Same kind of thing with Dozier. Benson should have spent the last 1/3 of 2011 in Rochester. He had done all he could to prove he could handle AA pitching. And then there's Hicks. Hopefully Pinto isn't next.
  21. Dude is very good in 2011 and then battle an injury in 2012. Plays essentially 4/5 of a season since that 201 season because of injury (that clearly hurt his 2012 performance). But there are better players on the 40-man roster.
  22. I am talking about Twins prospects. See Seth Stohs, Aaron Gleeman, etc.
  23. Congrats, man. You know your stuff and that really isn't such a horrible first blog at all.
  24. USAF Chief is on a roll with this whole situation. I give him credit for that. For everyone who thinks that this is a very meager deal: first very meager deals ADD UP when an org. keeps doing stupid things. Second, imagine Kyle Gibson pitching for the Twins and Joe Benson still in the organization? Like, WHOA! Third, even if Gibson isn't pitching for the Twins, imagine about 5 other guys who are no-talent players on the 40-man being simply SENT DOWN TO ROCHESTER instead of just losing a consensus 10-15 prospect (heading into this season).
  25. Jesus H. Good god. Letting a top prospect just "check out" is an abomination. You know . . . I am only a full-paid philosopher for one more year at the moment . . . the Twins should probably, um, hire me to check in with such players and discuss life and goals and failure and death and all that stuff. You might think that a "sport psychologist" is needed, but those people are wankers and pill-pushers. Note to self: new career path based on idiotic 40-man decisions by the Minnesota Twins
