  1. And P.S. I am going to do the same today with no analysis. It's a pre-draft necessity to get prospect lists out and then a post-draft necessity to add in the picks.
  2. So about Mejia . . . yeah he is doing very well so far. It's a weird thing. They just shifted him over from GCL to Fort Myers out of need at the end of last season. Then he is in EST and goes straight to Fort Myers again? I don't know how to gauge that. He is someone to watch and I might just start a thread on him.
  3. Parmelee might bat 6th in the Rochester lineup given how that manager does things, by the way.
  4. Here's how the Twins organization does things: Promote prospects pretty slowly in the bottom leagues, even to have them repeat seasons at the same level. THEN when they show promise at AA, give them a September call-up or even a next season ST workout geared for the big leagues. What about moving them quickly to Fort Myers and then quickly to Rochester? Chris Parmelee (and Joe Benson . . . oops, and Brian Dozier) needed a full season of AAA ball and it should have started in August of 2011. Full stop.
  5. Homer, triple, and outfield assist in tonight's game. I'm glad that the Twins have 40 guys more deserving on the 40-man roster, though. PHEW!! Keep in mind that Benson had only about 4/5 or so of a season of badness with the Twins. Totally worthy of just letting him go . . .
  6. And how has that been working for the Twins and Chris Parmelee, Aaron Hicks, Trevor Plouffe, Ben Revere, Joe Benson, etc.?
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if Herrmann is up for the duration of Wilkin's DL stint and a relief pitcher (Fien) goes down when Plouffe comes back.
  8. I know why Dozier is batting second. Gardenhire doesn't want a lineup ending with Hicks, Dozier, Florimon, Diamond. Now, let's grant him that for a second . . . why Dozier instead of Florimon? Now it is stupid to grant him that, though. I would keep Mauer within two batters of the sacrificial pitcher, for one thing. And, Dozier's offense is terrible yada, yada, yada.
  9. I know. There is no Buster or George Michael episode through 11. It's odd. BUT, I have to imagine that no. 12 is GM. Hint hint. There is a fantastic "fight" scene in episode 11. Good grief.
  10. I am through 11 episodes. I have listened to no one talk about the show so far until this thread, essentially. I will say that if one worries that the whole thing is too all over the place and yet interconnected for all 15 episodes . . . it all came to a head at the end of episode 11. Plenty of little mysteries get solved. I am thinking of slowly watching the last four . . . The two GOB episodes are my favorites so far in the new season. I like what they have done with Lucille and Tobias even. I am still puzzled about George at the moment and what is going on there.
  11. In that case, I will actually continue with shortstops very soon!
  12. Trevor Plouffe played a BUNCH of AAA and wasn't doing anything outside of what he is doing now for the Twins (really, his offense isn't that bad, but for a dip in homers) aside from his 2011 season in AAA where he went off. It was also his fourth season there! Comparing him to Parmelee is just very off. Parmelee has spent too little time in AAA and that is because the Twins mistakenly believe that the SSS in September and ST mean more than years of minor league ball. He should have been in AAA from April until August or so of last year. I bet you we'd be seeing a different player right now. Of course sending him back down NOW is a problem. Hendriks is similar to Parmelee, but his K/9 drop in Rochester in 2011 from previous seasons should have sounded alarms and he should have stayed in Rochester until it came up over 7 or so. Worley is just scared to throw strikes right now because he gets pounded often when he does. He needs some confidence for about 4 starts in Rochester and then try again.
  13. I see two guys in the entire system who could jump from AA to MLB, with Arcia being the borderline third case. I don't want to get in that "value of AAA vs. AA" argument again, though the evidence seems pretty clear. What I really don't like seeing is promotion to MLB from AA, then a struggle there, and a demotion to AAA (where the player has either never been or barely been) to "work on things" when they don't even have proper AAA experience in the first damn place.
  14. It is almost completely filler. "Veterans" as they are called by some. Yeah, veterans of the minor leagues with no chance of making it (or making it again). Some say that Rochester "wants to compete" and so the best way to do that is to put oldsters there instead of prospects. That isn't working for EITHER Rochester's W-L record OR Twins prospects, is it? I view Rochester as a place for actual real part-time fill-ins for the Twins or as the last stop for prospects. Not . . . just some dudes. I will put Richardson in the former camp because he could fill-in adequately for the Twins in Hicks' time of need. Herrmann and Colabello are with the Twins, they decided to throw away Benson, so what is left? I will let Romero still be at the margins right now. Eric Farris, Clete Thomas (mastered AAA pitching, don't let it fool you), Jeff Clement (disappointment), Brian Dinkelman, Ray Olmedo, Doug Bernier, Eric Fryer, etc. Good god.
  15. Yeah, I looked for Pugh and Watts to step up and compete for the big league 'pen. I don't trust Roenicke or Swarzak, and Fien is really on the edge right now (in fact, I wonder if the Twins are returning to 12 pitchers and Fien will be sent down instead of Herrmann when Plouffe comes back???).
  16. Well it is hard to say what the hell is going on here. Rohlfing is someone who can just be moved around levels and play multiple positions including catcher. Let's not forget that the Twins just threw away Benson for nothing. With Herrmann's few day recall, Rochester was down an OF and a catcher. I would say that after the draft and short season starts, moves can be made from bottom to top at the C spot. Release Fryer, make Butera and Lehmann coaches (haha!), and just have real players like Herrmann, Pinto, and Rohlfing at AAA. That won't happen, of course, but one can dream.
  17. Just about every response in this thread so far is worthy of a response, so I will start with this one. I was dismayed to see Dozier there--trying that out with Florimon is ONE thing (I wouldn't like that anyway, but I could see Gardy going that route), but a .230 OBP in the two-hole is disgusting. Let's just hope he doesn't do that again tonight.
  18. I am not sure why I am back here reading this. Yes, we'll see how Benson does indeed. And yes he was treated unfairly last year. Instead of allowing him to struggle through his problems at AAA they demoted him to AAA where he had already proved himself and he was then injured at AA. Then you have a manager at AAA who refuses to bat prospects at the top of the order in Rochester, preferring filler for "ticket sales." Also, aren't top 10-12 prospects allowed to have one bad less-than-full season (which is all you can say for 2012-2013 in Benson's case)? Letting CF talent walk away for nothing when there are other options on the 40-man roster with little value whatsoever is bad decision-making. Let me give you a hypothetical. Say Benson would have improved some, displaying good power but still not returning to his 2011 numbers. But it is a sign of improvement. Now consider the Twins seeking to trade Justin Morneau at the deadline to some team for that team's 10th prospect. Say the other team would prefer to give their 15th prospect, but the Twins don't like that idea. Wouldn't a Joe Benson be ideal for that kind of package deal as an add-in? Can you say the same for Wilkin Ramirez, Drew Butera, etc.?
  19. The Rohlfing move is very curious. I guess he is Herrmann like in that he can also play OF. Koch should move up to NB anyway. But does this mean something weird involving Herrmann?
  20. I know. I am baffled by the response here. As in completely befuddled. Uber-perplexed. I could go on and on.
  21. I didn't realize that the strike out cancelled the home run.
  22. 2 homers in 2 games. I am just so glad that both the Twins and many around here believed that there were 40 better options for the 40-man roster . . .
  23. Yeah this is the best overview of the situation that I have seen (and Benson homered last night) from anyone here including myself. Not sure how to "approve" or be in the "meh" camp at all.
  24. Yeah 2 and 2. Four games at that abomination of a stadium would be way too aesthetically displeasing.
