  1. Well there was a period of time around 2005 where I may have taken adderall as a recreational drug. May have done so. And it may be the case that I am surprised he is striking so many guys out instead of running up and hugging them and jabbering about how great the world is. It is flabbergasting that kids are given this. I can't imagine it being a great athletic performance enhancer though. Unless you call drinking a lot an athletic performance.
  2. Does anyone have an update on his status?
  3. Well Jokin, there is apparently NOTHING between opinions and facts. No such things as justified beliefs, just facts like "a bachelor is an unmarried male" or opinions like "bud light sucks." I would say that when one side presents very little support for its claims, then the truth is less likely to be on its side. But I guess that this is just like my opinion, man.
  4. Very funny photo to go with this story. Just, very funny. Ha ha ha. Hee hee. (cry, cry)
  5. Apparently major leaguers don't hit the ball harder than minor leaguers . . . .
  6. I was shocked that Pelfrey was "ready" to pitch at the beginning of the season. I had predicted that he wasn't going to start the season. Well he clearly is not ready. He is not strong enough to carry through more than 90 or so pitches effectively.
  7. Nice find and good analysis!
  8. A college student tested positive for Adderall? No ****. Anyway, if he falls to 4 and the Twins do not take him, I am going to go ballistic. Other than him at that spot (and assuming Stewart would be gone), I like Shipley or Ball.
  9. I would have said utility infielder all the way until this year. Starting shortstop is not out of the realm of possibility.
  10. Well I have to wonder how his velocity is right now. He is striking out players at the highest rate of his career. Sure the hits/9 are bad still, but he is walking people at a rate reminiscient of his first few years. And he's only 22.
  11. Uh, do major leaguers hit the ball harder?
  12. There are quite a few prospects like Ortiz, Kepler, etc. that have to be added and there are some other guys like Albers and Watts who could make it as well.
  13. Gray, Appel, Bryant, Stewart is how it is going to go.
  14. If Gray falls to the Twins (highly unlikely), the Twins would be foolish not to take him.
  15. Aderlin Mejia, finding a position 5'11', 170 Bats: switch, throws: right DOB: 5/12/92 2012 GCL (and very minimal time in the FSL) numbers: .313/.365/.402 (.767), 13 doubles, 0 triples, 1 homer, 16 walks, 15 strikeouts, 11 steals and 7 times caught stealing. 2013 FSL numbers: 95 plate appearances, .378/.447/.427, 4/0/0, 11/8, 9/3M Mejia is an interesting story. He had an unspectacular first two seasons in the DSL and GCL, but in 2012 found some success at age 20 in the GCL. After that season ended, he just happened to still be in town when Fort Myers needed him. Now this year, instead of starting him in Cedar Rapids, he spent time in EST and then went back to play for Fort Myers when they needed him. And he has put up fantastic numbers so far while playing 9 games at 2B, 7 in LF, 4 at SS, 1 at 3B, and 1 in RF (committing just one error at SS). The .874 OPS is impressive for someone who is essentially just moving from the GCL. He is 21, so there is no need to get totally carried away, but he is impressing and is serving as an offensively strong super utility guy at the moment.
  16. Williams' OPS has dropped some, thanks to a walk drought (which I am not that concerned about). He still is at .849 for the season and I have to think he might be looking at a promotion to Fort Myers very soon, especially if the Clete Thomas promotion to the Twins causes a chain reaction.
  17. As everyone knows, Herrmann hit his first major league homer on Sunday, and opposite field shot. And . . . in a day game no less. He's 3-for-7 with a homer and 2 rbi. He fills out the roster nicely as a player with positional flexibility.
  18. There were half a dozen marginal players on the 40-man to choose from, and Robertson was one of them. If things go as expected, Wilkin comes back at some point and Thomas is waived (and likely picked up by somebody). And it clears room in the minors for needed promotions.
  19. Whoa. That is totally crazy.
  20. So Joe Benson needed to be the guy waived, out of all of the people on the 40-man roster? And there is actual evidence, somewhere, that Drew Butera is currently a premium defensive catcher?
  21. Did the Twins state that the issue was the breaking ball? I hope they did somewhere, so it would make me feel better about the Twins org. Anyway, the outburst since joining Frisco is nothing to just scoff at. If one wants to track down what pitches he was hitting out of the yard and hitting for a double and a triple, that'd be cool. Again, there was no reason to throw a CF away, especially one who as recently as this March was in the top 10-20 of essentially every Twins prospect list out there. Apparently numbers just lie about Butera's defense? As far as "trade interest" and Benson vs. waiver claim. There is a big difference between a waiver claim in May and being a part of some kind of trade with a major leaguer as the main part of the package at the deadline or even in the offseason. People really blow early in the season waiver claim stuff out of proportion at TD, as though it means something essential and unchangeable about a player's value for the entire season.
  22. Doumit is an interesting DH and second/third catcher option for some teams heading into the playoffs. Or maybe the same thing next year. I would look for Herrmann and Pinto to both be ending 2014 with the Twins.
  23. While Hicks has been "major league ready" defensively for awhile, this ignores the fact that reading a ball off a bat in AA is different than when major leaguers hit the ball. It takes time to adjust. And is another reason why he should stay with the Twins.
  24. Looking at the 40-man, there are probably anywhere from 8-12 guys coming off the 40-man after this year (maybe two trades, a major drop of these pitchers, Butera, and a few infielders). None of them are named Colabello.
