  1. At this pace, he is done in August. Great managing . . .
  2. Gibson is throwing innings for no reason right now. Some people scoffed at my notion that his innings (pitches) limit should be kept in AAA as long as possible. Fair enough. Now he is probably at 110 innings or so for the remainder of the season. The Twins are NOT an abomination and it is conceivable that September matters. And so Gibson should be ready for that . . . . . or not.
  3. Gardenhire doing this publicly is not how professional people are supposed to act. going ape**** over a flip like that is beyond ridiculous. How long can people actually take both this kind of unprofessionalism and idiotic managing?
  4. Very illuminating . . . and actually relaxing article.
  5. I wish the Twins would move to a 11-man pitching staff after a few weeks so they could bring Colabello up.
  6. The Mets might be the worst team in handling their minor leaguers with talent. They ruined him for a number of years. His first year with the Twins should have been his full AAA year.
  7. Every night one or more of these teams has some mind-boggling offensive explosion. I like Andrew Albers. I have said that before. Now I don't think I really like him going forward as a starter, but maybe it would be nice to develop another solid lefty who could, I don't know, get an out in the 6th inning and be simply a LOOGY so as to save the other LOOGY, Duensing for later in the game against someone like Stephen Drew . . . If Robertson isn't that guy, then maybe Albers and Dean should be sent to the 'pen with hopes of competing.
  8. Season numbers for Williams: .219/.402/.422, with 4 doubles, 3 homers, 6-4 SB-CS, and 20-19 BB-K. To note here are that his ISO numbers have exploded this year and that is a good sign for someone repeating a league--he isn't stagnating, getting bogged down, etc. and instead is improving. I am very interested to see what the Twins do with him. His OPS is inching near his 2011 ELZ mark and the OF situation is obviously quite crowded, especially after the return of Max Kepler. It wouldn't surprise me if the Fort Myers OF by the end of the season was Williams-Buxton-Walker.
  9. Herrmann is 5-for-22, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in his last six games. He is obviously not performing very well this season and it might now be cause for concern. A big problem for him this year has been LH pitching. He is 3-for-20 on the season against them. For a backup catcher and 5th OF, this won't be such a big deal as his time spent against lefties can be minimized. What I am going to watch for in particular in the next few weeks is whether or not he starts to slug at all. His OBP is bound to bounce back up to around .350. The key for him is if he can back to that .390 SLG mark so that he can project forward as a .700 OPS player at minimum.
  10. If a runner was on third there with one out, I could see pinch-hitting Ramirez. But otherwise, I would have just let Hicks bat.
  11. They trotted four RH batters out after Ortiz. Seems pretty obvious that Fien is the guy to get stretched out there.
  12. The RH/LH mismanaging continues. Now I know the Twins don't have another lefty besides Perkins to pitch to Drew, but it is likely only a 4-2 ball game if Gardenhire would have just settled for getting TWO outs from the Ortiz matchup with Duensing.
  13. Hell yeah for AJ! He is a great asset, even without the very good performance this year so far. I have to wonder if this is not in a vacuum and that Beresford, perhaps, is moving up to Rochester pronto? That Vargas is now hitting like this is more fuel for the promotion fire after the June draft. Until then, I have to think that something has to be done about Jorge Polanco DHing as much as he has. He has played second 15 times, short 2 times, and DH-ed 7 times. Candido Pimentel is getting plenty of time at second (10 games) and has DH-ed only 4 times. Polanco needs time in the MI instead of as a DH.
  14. No. Why would they ever do that. And, unfortunately, I guarantee you that he is going to collapse this season. It's going to be ugly.
  15. Perhaps not having lived in Minnesota for 10+ is the cause of my ignorance, I don't know. One would have thought some horse's ass would have made fun of it in some anti-Cuddyer rant.
  16. Sano and Rosario sticking at 3B and 2B would be a dramatic development. If neither one needs to move to the OF and Sano doesn't have to move to 1B this means all sorts of possibilities could be opened up. Joe Benson and Adam Walker could have a chance in the OF, Vargas and Harrison at first (or even re-signing Morneau). The Twins would have less pressure to find a good offensive SS and they could go with Beresford. With regard to Pinto, it would be nice if Doumit can start producing and be enticing for some AL team looking for a bat and DH/backup catcher for the playoffs. Oh, and the total end of the Drew Butera era.
  17. Great article! I always like your insights into that team and I am glad Beresford has some fire in him.
  18. That's bizarre that I never heard about this either.
  19. No he played some in the minors in 2011 and some more in 2010. It has just been a little while.
  20. Two things to note: 1. Holy hell, Wilkin Ramirez in CF! 2. Why the hell is Mauer playing AGAIN and catching no less. Can't this manager see that he needs a day off??????
  21. FYI: James Beresford is starting to actually hit AA pitching. Now, for whatever reason, Danny Santana is playing the vast majority at SS, but Beresford is probably the top defensive SS in the system. He might end up being that serviceable SS in a year or two.
  22. I hadn't even read this before posting just now. You are spot on with this. Clearly they (a righty and a lefty) should have been ready early in the inning. ESPECIALLY since they both would be likely needed in the seventh ANYWAY!
  23. Hell, I have been drunken rambling about this myself, I just have typed very little of it. This amounts to talking to myself, but whatever. I agree with you about this debacle tonight. What a dumbass move. Not only is it a loss, but it also messes with Pelfrey.
  24. Yeah, Polanco is dominant and this is a great development. People forget that he is what, 5 months older than Buxton? That's extremely noteworthy given his performance and position. I would like to see him play SS more to see if that will work out.
