  1. Yeah there are some very strong starts to the season for Buxton, Arcia, Rosario, and Sano. Colabello, Michael Gonzales, Dalton Hicks, and Daniel Ortiz doing well too.
  2. USA, are you even watching the games? The issue is that Hicks has struck out several times this year on the exact same pitch. The curve outside. What's wrong with telling him to swing at a curve with two strikes when it is obviously going to be a close pitch. It looks like he doesn't understand how a damn curve moves.
  3. By the way, it is much better to listen to Orioles announcers. Palmer is good.
  4. You realize that I am referring to border line strikes every single time, right?
  5. MI makes the solid play to save the inning and potentially the bullpen.
  6. Walk city. Whose turn is it to throw a bullpen session amongst the starters? Hendriks?
  7. Um, Hicks slipped in the OF. That's not a demotable offense.
  8. USA: yes I am half-serious. How many of Hicks' strikeouts have come on called third strike curve balls. I have seen 4 such strikeouts. game note: thankfully Wilkin hustled over to back up Hicks. Also, Pedro cannot "come hard inside" (he's a meatball pitcher who must have command. He's like a speedy OF/IF who without his speed is not a viable major leaguer--without his command he is done for.).
  9. How has no one ordered Hicks to SWING at that curve ball???

    Opinion Versus Fact

Someone can check on this, but when the Twins were rollin' on dubs last year for awhile (and it was brief, but not terribly brief) was when they FINALLY did have two legitimate OBP people in front of Mauer. Span and Revere at the time were somewhere around .350 OBP and during that stretch they might have been .370 or so. That worked. That's basically the one time in the Mauer era where such a thing has occurred.
  11. And, oh my god, THAT SHIP SAILED. One cannot advance Hicks this far and then dramatically alter his approach to over half of all the pitchers in baseball.
  12. Question: do you think he magically hits RHP as a RHB as well as he hits LHP as a RHB?
  13. Precisely. Especially your last two sentences.
  14. Did I miss something about Herrmann being injured? And Benson didn't start, so he must be banged up as well. I mean, they better be banged up.
  15. Hicks has been overmatched. What were people expecting? He should have been in AAA, most likely. The Twins didn't want to wait and that is going to mean learning on the job. And GUESS WHAT? The fact that Hicks (and Mauer) are not getting on base and yet the Twins are 3-2 is a good thing.
  16. Thought I was at the Strib site for several minutes while reading many of these comments. Have any of you seen the "photo" with the koala holding his paw up and saying "everyone just calm the **** down"? Yeah.
  17. Florimon has really struggled on plays with runners on second and where the runner blocks the ball for a second or just disrupts the routine play. I have seen this happen at least twice in his time with the Twins. It's a concentration issue and it can be worked on.
  18. The curve ball called third strike is killing him so far.
  19. OK , so looking at this ugly box brought out good and bad news. First, Arcia and Colabello are hitting right out of the gates. BUT, This team decided to start Clete Thomas instead of Joe Benson (and Thomas was the leadoff hitter). Benson came in to pinch hit. If there was some health issue involved, it would seem weird to play Benson at all. But even IF Benson were out of the question, why on earth would this team give the most plate appearances to a guy like Thomas who is merely AA (not AAA) filler? I would be happier with Boggs there as he at least is a useful plug in for the Twins if there is an injury.
  20. This is the value of having a good bench. Naysayers about the 24th and 25th spots on the roster . . . . stifle. That is a win produced right there. WAR be damned. One win produced by the end of the roster.
  21. Ok, I see that Escobar was originally a PR. That's fine.
  22. The scrubs: Dozier, Carroll, and Escobar accounted for the runs created. That actually is a good sign as the top of the order is not going to continue to look like it is the beginning of March instead of April. Even Mauer out of those three at the top is acting like he has never seen a breaking ball. I am sure this was covered elsewhere, but I am amazed that Carroll was the pinch runner and Escobar the pinch hitter. Escobar DOES have that potential to smack the ball far, though. The Tigers OF was simply not expecting that. Also, cheers to Wilkin Ramirez, the vilified one, for that weird double.
