  1. I like the LH/RH combo of Herrmann and Pinto as pieces on the bench/semi-starting. Having "three catchers" won't be a bad roster move anymore.
  2. Danny Santana as best defensive SS in AA?
  3. Mejia is in a slump and has only 4 hits in his last 31 at bats. His slugging has fallen below his OBP% at the moment. Still a solid year for him and he will repeat at Fort Myers next year.
  4. I guess I will just say it again: there is no need to really move Rosario to the OF even if he comes up in June next year (opening day seems totally foolish). It certainly isn't going to be wise to seriously deflate Rosario's value by moving him out there beyond an occasional fill-in. Dozier and Rosario can platoon at second to allow for Rosario's transition to the majors to be smoother, and Dozier can still get playing time around the infield. He is not going to be a great defender at short or third, but he could be adequate.
  5. Rosario is up in June next year at the earliest. Even after he comes up, there can be considerable platooning between he and Dozier at second and Rosario can get some time in LF and DH, while Dozier can spell Florimon and Plouffe once in awhile.
  6. Williams is still holding his own in the FSL. Fort Myers 2013 stats: .322/.394/.373 (.767). He has stolen 8 bases in his short time with Fort Myers.
  7. Yes, above I noted this. At least for this year. His splits were huge for day/night at Rochester this year (see above). The major league numbers are basically in line with them. I noted it earlier, must have sounded crazy since no one responded. But now it doesn't look completely crazy.
  8. Herrmann has come down to earth, but he is still reaching base quite a bit. He is drawing walks and working counts more. This was something he was quite good at in 2011 in the minors. A key for Herrmann to be successful in any role with the Twins is to have good isolated discipline. I have noted this before, but it continues: the day/night splits are bizarre for Herrmann. He should simply not play in the day right now!
  9. Buxton aside, that looks right. Hopefully.
  10. 1200+ posts and suddenly you say something like this?
  11. Gibson (still counts) Meyer Berrios Stewart May Baxendale Duffey Eades Melotakis Wimmers
  12. Mauer back batting second and Arcia third, hopefully. In September, throw Hicks in at the top. Let 'em roll. Maybe by June-ish next season, Sano will be batting 4th and Rosario 5th.
  13. Good moves. Hicks will be back in September. Another year of service time. Albers gets a tryout.
  14. Albers might end up being a good long relief option if he doesn't perform as a starter. Swarzak is going to be paid a bit more next year and he is either going to be gone or probably move into a true middle relief role. He certainly deserves time with the Twins pronto, though. But there are people who think that Pelfrey should be RE-SIGNED next year, so . . . .
  15. Given that a PTBNL is something, I will put the smack down on myself here!
  16. Morneau passing through waivers!? No way on earth that would happen. Of course someone is going to claim him.
  17. There is plenty of real room on that 40-man roster.
  18. If they don't just pay Morneau's salary to get some potentially valuable player back I am going to lose my mind. It looks like I am going to lose my mind. Why not just do it!? Otherwise . . . you pay him the same amount, get nothing back, and are still in the exact same situation in the offseason.
  19. Is there proof somewhere that Drew Butera's damn defense is still "elite"? That word is bandied about left and right around here about his current defense. I do not buy it. NO team is going to trade anything for Drew Butera.
  20. I don't understand much of the above. I really don't. First of all, Morneau can be traded AND then signed in the offseason, and the deal to get him is going to be nothing like his yearly rate for the past several years. Second, I don't understand why the alternative--keeping Morneau, Doumit, Duensing, Burton, etc. is really at all preferable to getting a bunch of minor league players back who might actually become legitimate players. Third, the guys mentioned to be traded are ALL replaceable. Perhaps immediately, but certainly by the beginning of next season.
  21. Is it more respectful to keep a bunch of marginal minor league players and aging veterans for no good reason instead of turning them over and seeing if they can get any kind of return and fresh blood to fill the ranks? Is it more respectful to keep toying with players like Parmelee and Arcia? How about Herrmann, Pinto,Albers, Tonkin, etc. etc.?
  22. I'm just going to say this so that it is clear. I would trade now or waive/trade later, or still later trade (offseason): Morneau, Duensing, Burton, Fien, Doumit (top 5), Correia (unlikely), Pelfrey, Carroll, Roenicke, Thomas, Swarzak (off), Willingham (off) That's 12 players. Say they get 12 back ranging from low-A to AAA. Even batting .250 with them and getting 3 good players for the Twins in 1-4 years is going to be acceptable to me. Why? They are all replaceable. If the Twins can get a couple guys for a few of them (Willingham and Morneau, maybe) then all the better. I doubt the Correia and Roenicke are going to go away though. Carroll maybe for some cash and/or a PTBNL.
  23. Rosario at second base is an elite prospect. In LF? Not so much. I understand the scenario looks to have changed, but I can't imagine him moving back to the OF. They could ease Rosario in when he eventually gets to the Twins (June or so?) by platooning he and Dozier at second base. But, you know, that might make too much sense or something.
  24. I think something like this should be in order. But what "should" be done is rarely was *is* done for the Twins.
