  1. Is it illegal to disagree with your previous post? "There seems to be a lot of people in this, and other threads that want to trade Ervin Santana. I'm not a big fan of his, and understand he might have some value (at least compared to the Plouffe's, Suzukis, etc.).. but if he is traded, who in the hell is in the 2017 rotation? I count 7 pulses by the way (Milone, May, Berrios, Gibson, Nolasco, Hughes, duffey). Not counting Dean or Darnell. And with the exception of Nolasco and Hughes the rest are a heck of a lot cheaper than Santana.
  2. I think there are some that want to go hog wild and trade "everyone" because this is a 90-100 loss team and whatever Ryan has been doing has not worked to this point anyways. With the exception of last season the Twins have been in the gutter for several seasons now and the frustration is showing. Those fans want to blow up the team top to bottom and start over again, including coaches, GM and team president. For what it's worth i get their point of view for sure. However, we all know that's unlikely to happen unless Jim Pohlad goes postal after a 110+ loss season. Unlikely to happen. That said, I think many of us want to trade the overvalued over priced veterans that have failed to produce enough to make the team semi competitive. Guys like Plouffe, Dozier, Santana and a few others.
  3. Why wouldn't the Twins trade Santana if the right offer came along and they could get something of value for him? He's been busted for PED's, he's 33 and he's only under contract for two more years. The Twins aren't going to extend him beyond age 35/36. This team is a 100 loss team with or without him.
  4. It's not Mauer's fault what the Twins paid him either. We fans can argue back and forth till we're blue in the face, but the truth is he's only under contract for two more years. If continues to play for the Twins after 2018 it will be for a much reduced contract given his level of production. I think the much bigger dilemma is the albatross contract of Hughes. We're stuck with him for three more seasons thru 2019.
  5. Yes. Finally someone gets the point. Twins should be looking to wheel and deal some of these veterans soon. Not give them away, but openly advertise that the team is looking to sell (you fill in the blank with the appropriate player's name) that isn't part of the long term rebuilding plans.
  6. I would. Opens the door for Polanco or Rosario at 2nd base.
  7. The Twins are a rebuilding team, I don't see the logic of keeping Santana around when he is slightly better than mediocre and isn't part of the long term plans. If he fetches a legitimate prospect and the Twins can escape the final two years of his deal by eating 20-25% of his remaining salary, I don't know how you turn it down. I'd take it and run. Next up Nolasco and then Hughes.
  8. Suppose Kepler develops into an effective outfielder and the Twins stick with Buxton, what happens to Rosario and Grossman? Does the lesser of the two become the 4th outfielder? What does this mean for Danny Santana? Part of the Twins dilemma from my perspective is that no-one has really stepped forward yet and claimed an outfield spot decisively (Kepler might be the exception). I think that some of the frustration with Arcia and ultimately why he was traded was that he was not particularly good at anything. I also think that if Buxton and or Rosario step up Santana could be the next to go, especially if Polanco is given the chance he deserves in the infield.
  9. I think a DFA or a trade of Nolasco is coming. If he continues to pitch like this the Twins can't ignore it forever. Will it happen before the break? Probably not. After the break maybe. At some point during the 2017, yes.
  10. Or they should trade him, while they still have time to do so.
  11. He (Ryan) won't. It's not his modus operandi. Never has been. Now one would think at the very least that Plouffe would get traded making room for Sano at 3rd, but some folks here forget the FO love for Trevor Plouffe, Brian Dozier, Joe Mauer and Glen Perkins. These guys have wormed their way into the inner circle and are now Twins for life. I think that Park gets demoted at or shortly after the all-star break and Sano shifts to DH for the rest of the season. This allows Ryan to keep Plouffe around. Now whether or not he's offered a contract (via arbitration) this off season is debatable. I think that if his number is upwards of 10 million (which it could be), I think Terry might scoff at that, but we'll see. Regarding Polanco. I hate to say it, but the Twins kinda made their decision when they bought out Dozier's three seasons of arbitration and signed him through 2018. Polanco is clearly not a shortstop based on his fielding stats. Now the FO has been trying to force him into that mold but it's clear he's not SS material at this point based on errors alone. With the emergence of Escobar at SS and Nunez as a bench bat / spot starter he's even less likely to receive playing time.
  12. Exactly! Duffey is a decent pitcher. If he could ever develop a changeup to go with that curve he’s starting material. The problem right now is that hitters have figured him out. They know his cues when he’s about to throw the curve and just lay off that pitch. Everything else is a fastball so it’s much easier to predict. This is why I didn’t understand the Trevor May demotion. Guy has 4 solid pitches (4 seam FB, curve, changeup and occasionally a slider and sinker). In short he definitely is a starter and is being wasted in the bullpen. Question is have the Twins ruined him by messing with his head this much.
  13. LOL. My father in law is like that. He helped us remodel our first house in Buffalo and it was non-stop cursing. Every miscue was an f-bomb or something like that. Actually quite hilarious and broke up the monotony of sanding hundreds of linear feet of drywall joints and painting room after room. Well.... maybe torture best describes it.
  14. One thing is certain. It's much easier to destroy then put everything back together again. The reconstruction phase can be the most agonizing step, especially the drywall work....shudders.
  15. I can definitely relate to #1. I've been working on updating a 2,500 sq. ft. house that was built in the early 80's for the past year. It's been more pain then joy at times, but i'm finally almost done (for now). If you need any advice on scraping popcorn ceilings, drywall work, installing hardwood flooring, redoing your kitchen i'm your man
  16. Agreed. I've been posting / lurking around TD roughly the same amount of time as you....It's only been the last year or so that i've really started posting. I enjoy reading most of the articles and postings by the writers and fans. In general I think it's a good bunch and the Mods are quite fair in monitoring / policing (not sure if that's the best term) the forums. However, I do agree with you on one critical point. TD has MORE than it's fair share of posters who are more than happy to tear you apart if you criticize certain Twins players (example: Joe Mauer or Miguel Sano), or challenge the majority opinion on certain subjects. My advice is to fire right back and stand up for yourself but don't let it get out of hand and break the forum rules.
  17. If the right deal came along for Dozier, couldn't Escobar, Nunez & Rosario platoon 2nd until Polanco is ready to take over? Rosario was a 2nd baseman in the minors.
  18. i agree. Just because someone is 23 years old doesn't automatically mean they are irresponsible and don't care. Most successful athletes (at least the ones i knew in college) trained very hard and were dedicated to the sport they were in. Yes, some worked harder then others and most if not all of them partied just as hard as they trained, but you get the idea.
  19. I guess that begs the question, are the Twins planning to deal Plouffe or move him to another position? Or Perhaps they are taking a step backwards with Sano and will platoon him between 3rd and DH for now as a part time player versus starter?
  20. Perhaps the Twins have plans for him to play some shortstop in the near future.
  21. Yes, you did and you just did again.
