  1. True. But the jury is out on Hughes. There's a very good possibility he never pitches another major league game in his career let alone starting. From what i understand he has a frayed labrum which ended Radke's career in addition to the “thoracic outlet syndrome” he had surgery for? From what i understand it's a pinching of the nerves and vascular tissues that pass underneath the clavical (collar bone) and has no feeling in his arm when he raises his arm over his head? Had surgery to hopefully correct this. Duffey is a two pitch starter who needs to learn a third pitch and use it effectively otherwise his starting career could be very short. Arbitration eligible 2019. The Twins appear to have abandoned the possibility of May as a starter for whatever reason nobody understands. Arbitration eligible 2018. Gibson has been god AWFUL, downright putrid this season. I think he's ARb 1 this season? To be perfectly honest i hope the Twins non tender him this off season. He just flat out stinks. Just my opinion there will be plenty of room in the rotation next season especially with Ryan out of the way.
  2. I Exactly. Including the prospects that appear fringe. Don't wait until they have no value in AAA.
  3. yeah i thought about him as well. Last i heard his rehab was not going super well. Progress very slowly.
  4. Pretty good summary if you ask me and i don't consider your opinion "debby downer" more like cautious realism. Mejia could be a steal, but i have never seen him pitch. Gonsalves is probably the next polished guy with good potential that is close to ready..... and he's a lefty. Not an especially hard thrower at 90-92, but racking up the strikeouts in Chattanooga averaging 10.2k per 9 over 9 starts. Agreed on Jay. Huge gamble by the Twins. Potential for high reward, but they've tried this whole reliever to starter conversion thing recently on Cederoth and that experiment failed miserably, but will see. I have been criticized to the "nth" degree for not being super high on Stewart. Despite his good velocity, he has not induced strikeouts that you would expect from a top pitching prospect progressing through the system. From what i understand his fastball lacks movement and he relies too heavily on his sinker to try and grind guys out via ground balls. Sounds like another Gibson or Blackburn clone if you ask me. In summary. Twins need more starting pitching prospects.
  5. I think he's more than a couple tweaks away from putting it together. He has no eye at the plate whatsoever. In fact he appears to be totally clueless. I think a big part of this is a lack of major league experience. Until a hitter reaches AAA they will see mostly fastballs and not much breaking or off speed stuff. That is part of the BIG transition to the Majors that hitters often struggle with. That said, you would think such a highly drafted hitting prospect would be able to recognize and track pitches effectively and start being more selective in the batters box with more experience. The fact that he was still striking out like crazy, swinging at pitches bouncing off home plate and in the dirt is very disturbing. To me it appears that he was not effectively taught to track, recognize and react to pitches after release when he was younger (should start in little league). It screams lack of fundamentals and coddled prospect.
  6. No thanks I'd pass.
  7. You think the Twins are going to cut Santiago loose? Not arguing just curious.
  8. So once they rotation resets (Milone removed and Albers spot start completed) is it now? Santana Berrios Gibson Duffey Santiago
  9. It's more of an issue for taller people with longer torsos. He is 6'-5". As someone whose had back problems since highschool after injuring my back on the job landscaping it has been a problem intermittently since. There's no doubt it can be helped by certain exercises but once you injure your back once you have a good chance of having issues down the road, especially if you have bad posture.
  10. I'm not sure why we are disagreeing then.
  11. I read somewhere that Santiago stated something to the effect that the Twins already had him make some adjustments and I was thinking already?
  12. Now that Alex Meyer is out of the picture it's going to be another season before Gonsalves or Stewart get close to reaching the majors and we still have no idea when or if Hughes comes back. That leaves us with May, Jay and Mejia (late next season at the earliest). Will the Twins go out and sign another big name free agent once Mauer is off the books?
  13. With all due respect we disagree then. I misused the term "tops out." That said, I have read Zero scouting reports that say he "routinely hits 95." That i am sure of. All the reports i've read say he "routinely" hits low 90's and occasionally 94/95. He's also been described as a ground ball pitcher due to lack of movement on his FB. This might be part of the reason he's only averaging 4.8 k/ per 9 in Chattanooga plus smaller sample size.
  14. My apologies then. I also think he craves the media attention, kinda like Johnny Manziel.
  15. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that he worships / believes in a deity. Some people absolutely loathe folks like that especially high profile athletes.
  16. Soooo he occasionally hits 94-95, but usually tops out in the low 90's. Not a strikeout pitcher but a groundball pitcher due to lack of movement on his FB.
  17. Really? Kohl Stewart tops out around 90-91 mph on his fastball and is averaging 4.8k per 9 in Chattanooga which is a BIG RED FLAG. Tyler Jay couldn't make it past the 5th inning beginning back in early June and saw his ERA balloon to 7.20. He has not started a game in almost a month now and is now relieving. Not promising for two very high first round picks.
  18. Well if your scouting department consistently misjudges talent and wastes high draft picks on guys like Kohl Stewart #4 (wildly overrated soft tossing righty) and Tyler Jay #6 (a career RP whom the Twins were attempting to convert into a starter and apparently have given up on), yeah it doesn't matter if we have the #4 or #10.
  19. Yep, couldn't have summed it up better myself. There's no shame for him to spend more time in AAA. I mean he's only 22 years old. Give him another full year in AAA and just let him mature and grow.
  20. Man I don't know. If you can't hit .200 as an everyday player in the outfield it's hard to justify keeping him here. Clearly he is not ready for major league pitching.
  21. Haha it's like the giant blueberry girl from willy wonka and the chocolate factory, just keeps growing bigger and bigger.
  22. That is more logical to me anyways. Buxton should have spent the season in AAA. He is not ready for the majors yet. He is hitting .195 Yuck!
  23. I'd hate to send Vargas down considering he seems to be finally on track after last year. Sano is struggling a bit but what about Buxton? I mean he's hitting .195. Horrible.
  24. This is not a personal attack by me or anyone else. However, insinuating that Sano, Arcia, Rosario, Vargas, etc were treated differently by the Twins because they come from Latin American countries is a SERIOUS allegation. Bluntly put you are alleging ethnic bias from the organization. That said, be prepared to back it up and take the heat. It's like they say don't throw stones at people if you live in a glass house.
  25. Is that so? I seem to remember many issues with guys like Morneau, Cuddyer, Kubel etc. when they first called up. And guess what they AREN'T LATINO! In fact one player gave one of those guys a black eye because he thought he wasn't giving it his all. AND TISK TISK TISK we can't have any criticism of poor Sano or any other Latino players because they would make the Twins a very naughty racist organization. Give me a break.
