  1. yay the future is here!!!
  2. Joe Mauer doesn't deserve any love unless he puts a ball or two into the seats. How many at bats since his last homerun? 1st base is a power position, not powerless position.
  3. I wish the Twins had an elite setup man, not this mess.
  4. Has he ever had a scoreless outing with the Twins? Someone post his best pitching line as a Twin.
  5. I'm not sure if Nolasco ever induces weak contact
  6. Swap out Vargas and Pinto. Bring up that Lester dude to pitch in the pen. Do it now....
  7. Baez strikes out way too much and might never be a quality major leaguer. Meyer has a good shot at being a good bullpen arm.
  8. I'm not sure anyone would confuse Radke and especially Baker as a dominant pitchers. Good? Yes but Baker sure fell off fast. So a pitcher that keeps you in games, is an ace? Once again, I say a good pitcher. Mark Buerhle keeps his teams in games and hes not an ace. And for advanced stastics go look at the previous 4 years for Hughes, all in the 4's. He has to prove himself more. As for top 10 go back to the first page and tell me out of the fifteen who you would take after Hughes?
  9. An Ace has swing and miss stuff though. They can control the game that instead of relying on their fielders. I wish I could honestly say Hughes is an Ace but he's not. Why was he so affordable over a year ago? Heck, Porcello got a bigger payday then Hughes and he's a 3 at best.
  10. Well that was worded a bit funny but I knew Corey Kluber would come up so I dealt with it right off the bat. He was flat out dominate. Hughes was good but Kluber was on another level.
  11. 1. Felix Hernandez 2. Clayton Kershaw 3. David Price 4. Chris Sale 5. Max Scherzer 6. Corey Kluber 7. Madison Bumgardner 8. Johnny Cueto 9. Stephen Strasburg 10. Adam Wainwright Those are 10 guys that are "Aces." Everyone that knows anything about baseball is familiar with those names. Then we hit the next tier that can be number 1's on their respective team and you wouldn't mind them pitching in a must win game. Zach Grienke Cole Hamels Jon Lester Matt Harvey Jordan Zimmerman There is 15 pitchers and I wouldn't think anyone with a neutral mind would pick Phil Hughes over any of them. And if you consider them all Aces then maybe there is another handful of aces in the league but then we start hit number #2 category which I think Hughes can fill in if he shows he can come close to last year.
  12. One good year doesn't make an Ace. You need consistency not just a good year here or there. Is Corey Kluber an Ace? I would lead towards yes because he was flat out dominate this past year and is showing the same again this year. He was on a different level completely then Hughes was last year that's for sure. If you had to pick (let's just say 15 current pitchers) to pitch game 7 of the World Series, would Phil Hughes be among them? I'm not even sure there is 15 true aces in the game. I'll compile a list and be right back.
  13. No. People throw the word "Ace" around very loosely. Ace of the Twins pitching staff? Yes, but that's not saying much. You go ask a fan of any other team if Phil Hughes is an Ace and you would get laughed at. One good to great year doesn't make him an Ace. As far as Lester goes he's not an ace either imo. Hamels was but he's a good number 2 now.
  14. Won't hit .300 again this year. I am willing to double down on that too
  15. Four 90+ loss seasons tend to do that to a fanbase. Especially since they look prime for another and the top prospects are once again not close to contributing.
  16. Well you cheered on the right team during the steriod era.
  17. I'm to the point i don't even care. I just chuckled when I read the news. Seriously waiting for the next player to go down so we can call up Doug Bernier. Top 3 pick here we come!
  18. Yeah I see a lot Randy Johnson in Pelfrey. I'm hopeful with his velocity and the way he slings the ball he could kill a bird like Johnson did.
  19. The 25 roster construction this past four years or so, has been as exciting as a wet fart.
  20. Now I see why the Giants never won anything with Bonds, the prospects were failing left and right. But now they have won a few championships. Goes in cycles, Twins next up?
  21. I run a smaller keeper league (10 teams) on ESPN. If you need someone to join, I guess I'll play. Best format is Roto imo. The main key is to have a good commish though.
  22. Players like Nunez and Milone do nothing for me. Let the youngsters play! Not sure why the Twins felt they had to sign Milone when they already have a logjam going on.
  23. The Twins seem to always give out contracts to players coming off career years. Suzuki and Mauer are clear examples of that. Not sure why they can't wait it out a year because he's not going to go all Robinson Cano on them.
  24. Well your really missing out then...
  25. Going to be a mistake if they give him too much money. He kind of came out of nowhere, who's to say that his production could fall off a cliff? Year to year is the way to go in this case.
