  1. As much as I want us to throw in the towel and sell, I’m just not sure anymore.... If we’re really gonna go for it, it’s gotta start with dumping Wilson and Morrison, and replacing them with competent veterans such as (catcher) Russel Martin and (RH power bat) Mark Trumbo.
  2. I don’t think flying back and forth from Rochester, across the country, can be good for a player’s development, or performance. We made that mistake with Vargas, and we’re doing the same thing to Moya and Busenitz. I’m fine with using our depth, but we gotta stop wasting options that don’t need to be wasted when we got other pitchers available like Jake Reed, Luke Bard, and Nick Anderson
  3. I’ll never understand why we signed Belisle. I mean what’s the point of having pitching depth when you don’t use it. This “veteran presence” dependency & the shuttling of major league ready relievers back and forth from Rochester has to stop. Our player development already sucks, and this isn’t making it any better.
  4. While I love that Cave’s getting his shot, and running with it, I’m not sure if he’s capable of sustaining this type of production. Yes, he does pass the eye test, but his BB/K ratio and BABIP say this is a fluke. Honestly, I’d much rather see Lamonte Wade, might not be as exciting as Buxton or Cave, but sometimes “boring” is good, and more sustainable.
  5. Yeah yeah, I get it, “Buxton’s a bust” and “Jake Cave is the future of the Minnesota Twins”, but what about Lamonte Wade? Anyone even relatively interested in how he’d fare against big league pitching? The man’s got the best batting eye in our system with 20 walks and only 16 strikeouts, not to mention 10 homeruns.
  6. Despite Odorizzi being very inconsistent, excluding this year, Montas has been even worse. I actually think Beane would we willing to sell high on Montas because next year Oakland would have Sean Manea, Daniel Mengden, Jharel Cotton, Daniel Gosset, Kendall Graveman, and top prospect Jesus Luzardo all competing for their rotation, making Montas expendable, and a “veteran” like Odorizzi much needed, because right now they’re running out Edwin Jackson, Brett Anderson, and Trevor Cahill. And if Beane really valued Montas, why did he option him back to AAA, despite pitching well? Maybe it’s because he see’s him as a trade chip to sell high on.
  7. While I’m interested in what we could get in return for Gibby, I’d say hold off on that for now and focus on trading Odorizzi, Duke, and Lynn. - Falvine was talking about acquiring controllable players at the deadline, so maybe we ship rentals like Lynn/Duke to Washington for left-handed reliever Sammy Solis (who isn’t a free agent until 2022). - Also Billy Beane did say the A’s are buyers, so I’d say trade Odorizzi to Oakland for Frankie Montas.
  8. - Remember, not all prospects are a given, so we shouldn’t be afraid to make a deal for the best catcher in baseball. The only “untouchables” should be Lewis, Romero, Graterol, and Kirilloff. - Also, I believe this team can win with or without Sano in the lineup, so if we can get someone (or prospects) just as talented, I’d say go for it, because I just think a change of scenery would be best for the team and Sano himself. - I’m guessing we will see how much Machado values playing SS, because most of his “likely destinations” would rather play him at 3rd, so maybe he takes a “discount” of 200 million to play SS everyday. But if not, then I’d be more than ok with going all in on Manny, by making him our only free agent signing in the offseason.
  9. CF- Byron Buxton (OF) C- J.T. Realmuto (C/1st) SS- Manny Machado (SS/3rd)(200mil/8yrs) LF- Eddie Rosario (OF/DH) 3rd- Eduardo Escobar (2nd/SS/3rd/OF) DH- Kennys Vargas (1st/DH) 1st- Hanley Ramirez (1st/DH) (1 year deal?) 2nd- Jorge Polanco (2nd/SS) RF- Max Kepler (OF) Bench: Lamonte Wade (OF) Willians Astudillo (3rd/2nd/OF/C) Ehire Adrianza (SS/3rd/2nd/OF/1st) Mitch Garver (C/1st/DH/OF) Realmuto <—> Gordon/Gonsalves/Thorpe/Rortvedt -DFA Grossman -Trade Jason Castro by the end of ST -Trade Sano to St. Louis for Jordan Hicks (SP/RP)
  10. Freddy Peralta or bust.
  11. As long as we don’t toy with him as a starter like the Dodgers did, the Twins “should” be getting a younger version of Raisel Iglesias.
  12. While I agree with parting ways with Sano, I not even sure if Miami would have any interest in Sano. A better match would be sending Sano to St. Louis for Jordan Hicks.
  13. If the Twins are as serious about contending as they say they are, they have to show the willingness to do whatever it takes to acquire Realmuto and sign Machado for the 2019 season, no excuses. I’m sorry, but we shouldn’t expect anything less than a lineup like this next year. CF- Byron Buxton C- J.T. Realmuto SS- Manny Machado LF- Eddie Rosario 3rd- Eduardo Escobar 1st- Kennys Vargas (Maybe Hanley Ramirez?) DH- Mitch Garver 2nd- Jorge Polanco RF- Max Kepler
  14. I’d rather not give up Romero, wouldn’t Gordon, Gonsalves, and Thorpe be enough already?
  15. Even if it was Tommy John, which it’s not, I wouldn’t see it as a huge concern. Talent is talent.
  16. The only scenario I see the Twins trading Escobar is if they’re able to land a big prospect like Sixto Sanchez from the Phillies. It’s been reported that they’ve already moved on from Baltimore’s steep price on Machado, sooo Philly could come calling soon.
  17. While a catching tandem of Garver/Swihart wouldn’t be all that bad, I don’t see it as a long term solution. I believe the catcher we’re looking for will need to be found outside the organization. While Realmuto would be awesome, I’d actually prefer Atlanta’s Single A catcher William Contreras, brother of Wilson Contreras.
  18. This may be stupidly optimistic, but what if we manage to sweep our way to the all star break with a 46-48 record? Would trading Gordon and Gonsalves for a legit game changer like Manny Machado be worth it? Playing him at SS (while moving Polanco to 2nd, Dozier to DH, and cutting Morrison) would only increase our chances of catching Cleveland and convincing him to stay. While I don’t see this happening, I do expect Falvine to pursue Machado over the winter.
  19. Probably could add Reed and Pressly to this list because I know playoff teams always have a need for high leverage bullpen arms.
  20. If we somehow manage to convince Manny to come to MN, and Sano moves to 1st, where does that leave Brent Rooker? He’s in AA right now, and is a good shot of being a Sept call up and next year’s starting 1st baseman. Hopefully this means a Sano for Realmuto deal is still possible. Although probably not.
  21. The Nats are under .500 and getting desperate, offer to send Lynn back to the National League for AAA catching prospect Raudy Read.
  22. Is anyone else at the point where they wouldn’t mind seeing a bullpen game every 5 days. Would be a good way to introduce Andrew Vasquez, Nick Anderson, and Jake Reed into the league.
