  1. After seeing the Ottavino deal, there’s no doubt in my mind that Allen would accept a 3yr/$24M offer, but is the FO willing to change things up and make that kind of commitment after all the one year deals we made?? I’m not so sure, and I hate that because filling the 9th with an established closer is really all that’s left for us to do in order to solidify ourselves as legit contenders for the division.
  2. I think 3yr/$24M would be fair for both sides. Twins need more stability in the later innings and Allen needs security in case 2018 is the new norm (which is unlikely).
  3. I get that Parker is no Robertson, but he’s far from a liability. However, that doesn’t mean Rocco should be relying on him to close games, that role ‘should’ belong to Cody Allen (or May). Yeah, I get that any pitcher is capable of handling the 9th, but having an established ML closer who’s been there and done that, even in the WS, should have some merit. And despite my frustration over losing Curtiss, I’m confident that young arms like Stewart, Thorpe, and Alcala are all gonna play a big role in our bullpen at some point this year, especially Alcala, who’s triple digit fastball could make him our bullpen’s best weapon.
  4. With all the success that the FO has had in the draft, IMO I think they can afford to give up one prospect in order to sign Keuchel. Also, I don’t see why teams are so hesitant about giving him 5 years, as if he’s declining, it’s not like his velocity has dropped that much, if at all.
  5. Jack Leiter would be an interesting pick, but with all the uncertainty surrounding Sano and the 3B position in general, I could definitely see them going with Rece Hinds, if available.
  6. While I believe Reed is capable of bouncing back, I honestly think Hildy is toast. Before I was impressed by how well he changed arm angles and speeds, now I’m very concerned that his gimmick is going to cost us even more games in 2019.
  7. I’d rather garantee Perez a spot on the 40 man roster than Duffey. Also, who says Perez has to either be a starter or reliever, why can’t he pitch in some sort of hybrid role (primary/spot starter/multi inning reliever/etc).
  8. Just sign Cody Allen already!!! And if the FO doesn’t like the idea of overpaying to get him here on a 1yr deal, try giving him the length he wants (2-3 yrs), I’m pretty sure the price will drop as most players are just looking for security, especially the ones who’re coming off a down year like Allen.
  9. If you forget his 2018 season, you’d notice that throughout his career, Perez has actually been somewhat durable (when healthy) and effective (especially 2016-17) in one of the more hitter-friendly parks in the entire league. So I have no problem with the Twins taking a chance and signing him to a 1yr ML deal.
  10. Why not take a chance on Martin Perez?? Whether he remains a starter, or is sent to the bullpen, any lefty that’s capable of throwing 95+ is worthy of being signed. .
  11. I love Rosario, but besides Sano (who’s likely to leave for a big market club one day), Kepler is the only player who I envision aging well, so why not pursue an extension? And as a player who’s got a lot of potential, but has yet to breakout, is it possible that Kepler could be convinced that this could be his only shot at a decently sized payday, and choose security over betting on himself? If so, that would be a huge win for the Twins and their future financial endeavors.
  12. Curious to see who we draft this year because whoever we land could definitely be a big league regular by 2022. Also, I’m curious to see what we have in Miranda because his offensive profile, versatility, and build give me the impression of a young Yuli Gurriel.
  13. SS- Royce Lewis 2B- Jorge Polanco LF- Max Kepler DH- Trevor Larnach RF- Alex Kirilloff 3B- Wander Javier 1B- Brent Rooker CF- Byron Buxton C- Mitch Garver Akil Baddoo Jose Miranda Ben Rortvedt
  14. I don’t see a problem with Rosario sharing DH duties with Kirilloff, along with occasionally filling in at 2B when needed, but when it comes to Kepler and Cave, I’d really prefer it if we hold on to Kepler’s potential. And while Cave may not have as many suitors as Kep does, he’s still plenty valuable and could bring back a decent arm if packaged with 1-2 prospects.
  15. Really excited to see Lewis in a Twins uniform one day, and hopefully that day(s) is in September (2019), but whenever I think of that one thing comes to mind. What if Lewis, Gordon, and Arraez all prove to be as good as, if not better, than Polanco?? Who’s the odd man out?? Because it definitely won’t be Lewis.
  16. If I’m reading into Cruz’s club option correctly, I’m guessing the length of his Twins career really depends on how Kirilloff (Rooker too) progresses, because if AK hits anthing like like did last year he’ll be our starting RFer in 2020. And if that’s the case, then Kepler will likely move to LF (barring a Buxton meltdown) and Rosario will replace Cruz as our DH (OF/2B).
  17. I agree, any pitcher is capable of being a closer, but there should at least be some value in having success and familiarity with the role, and the pressure that comes with it. As for the opener concept, I like the idea of it and the new conversations we’re having about pitcher usage. However, I don’t like the idea of a 1 inning “starter.” If the goal is to win the game by using the least amount of pitchers possible, along with making sure that no one gets overexposed by seeing the opposing lineup more than twice, than why not divide up the workload of 9 innings among 3 pitchers, 3 innings each? With the amount of “starting pitching” depth we have, I think this could be a real option for us.
  18. Obviously it’d take more than Gonsalves to acquire a frontline starter, but the article is about him (which is why I only mentioned him). Realistically, a “frontline starter” like Ray, MadBum, Teheran, Stroman, and Fulmer would probably require a package of Gonsalves, Arraez, Raley, and Wells.
  19. Sorry if this sounds negative, but I believe the best way to “solve” Gonsalves is to trade him at the deadline for a front of the rotation starter, because there’s no way the FO is giving up on Romero (yet), Graterol, or Thorpe; making Gonsalves one of our best trade pieces.
  20. Not a bad signing, but we still really need a closer, and the only realistic high end options left are Brad Brach, Justin Wilson, Kelvin Herrera, Hunter Strickland, Cody Allen, and Greg Holland. If it were my decision, I’d sign Allen to close and Herrera (or Wilson) to set him up.
  21. Britton to Yankees, possibly Ottavino as well.
  22. Nothing against Gonsalves, but I would’ve put Thorpe or Stewart in his spot.
  23. If Robertson gets a 2yr/$23M, Allen’s probably worth 2yr/$16M (maybe even less).
  24. I gotta go with Schilling, Bonds, Clemens, Martinez, Mussina, and Rivera.
