  1. ellipses and mind boggling....you, sir, are my hero.
  2. I have an insatiable love of ellipses......
  3. Why shouldn't the Twins cut Mauer? IF the team is better w/o him (say, Sano at DH, Park at 1B and whomever in RF).......why not cut him? I'm not saying they should, but why not? They are spending the money whether he plays or not. His replacement on teh 25 man roster would cost less than $500K a year most likely (since it is most likely a rookie).
  4. They should be able to get one gem in there......I hope.
  5. I agree, draft the BPA. It's not clear they've done that, though. Then, when you do, actually develop him. It's not clear they've done that either. I love Berrios and Buxton......no doubt about it.
  6. I'm not sure either, hence the maybe. But, something isn't working for this team. Consistently not working for this team. Until one of these guys comes up and is actually good, it is hard to say the Twins are doing it more right, right now for me. You kind of under sell Bryant a bit there, imo. And, Schwarber could clearly hit....and I think you are underselling him also. Benintendi is already in AA, right? He'll be in the majors this year probably.
  7. He never mentions sources, that would make it even harder for him to get any information. I think it likely he has better connections with some teams than others, and that some teams are more honest than others. But, he has previously stated that if he works with people that end up not being honest often, he stops working with them, even if that limits his access. It should still be taken with a ginormous amount of salt, though
  8. Ya, I think you need to re-think this post. Santana is one of the 5 worst players in all of baseball. Buxton is an immense talent, that needs to work on pitch recognition. Even if he never hits much better, he's about 4 x better than Santana will ever be. I have no idea why you have faith in Rosario.....given his track record. And Kepler? I love him as a prospect, but he's had a handful of MLB ABs. I have no idea why you'd believe in him over Buxton right now.
  9. KLAW's mock is 100% based on conversations. It is not what he'd do, but based on his (and his team's) discussions with teams, scouts, etc.
  10. Thanks, who are the college RP they plan to take in rounds 2-4 this year? sorry, that was mean spirited....... I have not paid any attention this year to the draft, other than what you are all putting out here right now. Thanks for all the information. I predict more pitching in round 1. There is a team just east of here that keeps taking the best college hitter (or nearly best)......they seem to be having luck. Maybe the Twins should try that, but I don't think there is a hitter like that a: in the draft; b: that will drop to 15.
  11. I'll answer that. He could be in the rotation in 2017, for an aggressive team. He could be in AA soon. then a bit next year, then AAA later in 2017, ready for a promotion. Of course, he could top out at AA this year.....but an aggressive org would move him up, and would have him positioned to be in the rotation next year if he's ready. Instead of worrying about keeping a guy off the 40 man, to save space for bad players, I'd like to see them be aggressive and have guys just waiting for their turn. I don't expect this team to operate that way, but I'd like it. edit: The Twins are terrible. They should be trying to get new players in MN sooner, rather than later.
  12. It's not a tragedy that they aren't up yet......I just don't agree with Wade and Gonsalves being where they are still. It will be a tragedy in a month or so......if they keep this up. There is no on the level above them that should be stopping them from going up. It's a matter of disagreeing at this point....not some national emergency (see my sig.....).
  13. Cool read, thanks to all parties for doing it!
  14. The only guy I'd promote for sure is Gonsalves, the others can use more time.....imo.
  15. Why not? Being in a pitchers' league doesn't matter if your results are based on strikeouts and ground outs........
  16. I have no issue with the Mauer deal. It pretty much had to be done from a PR perspective, and from a profitability perspective, and almost from a baseball perspective. The only mistake was keeping him at catcher too long, imo. That deal is why TF exists, so you can sign your stars and keep them. He was on a HOF path.......I just don't get how people question the deal. Could they have spent 3MM a year less? Maybe. His money is not keeping them from winning......it just isn't.
  17. This is not consistent with what we've heard quoted about mid-season call ups for teams that play in split seasons, or with comments on other teams near the ends of years. We have heard several times that the minor league playoffs matter. From Seth quoting the Twins......so, ya, I don't think we'll agree on this. And no, I can't find links from previous years with those quotes, I don't go around saving stuff for fun..... As for the high A staff.....how long would you wait to promote Gonsalves? How many more starts? What is the he learning right now, by completely dominating and not having to adjust?
  18. I think a lot less trades happen than people think......and has any team traded 3-5 players mid year? I doubt it.
  19. We won't agree on this. If he hits like this, I'd promote him at the half way point. But then, I tend to want to push prospects and challenge them more than others here do.
  20. On Suzuki, have you looked at all the catchers that changed teams in the last two years, or just assumed no one better was available? Because, I think if you did, you'd find that plenty of catchers have changed teams in the last 2 off seasons that have been better than Suzuki. Not great, but better.
  21. I do agree, I like Hughes as a person, from what little we can actually see from the outside.
  22. I endorsed the move, but I'm not sure why I did.......Normally I'd want them to wait until there was 1 year left, but like the post above states, there were reasons to like the deal. As for now? He either needs to be shut down, and see a doctor, or needs to move to the bullpen. You can't have a SP that has shoulder fatigue after 70 pitches. It's not good for the team, and more importantly, not good for him as a person.
  23. Molitor? Use a rookie out of the bullpen as closer? Uh, have you watched this season and last?
