    Where does Profar play, in your scenario? Profar is a FA in 2020 (that might be after 2020, so maybe 4 years), so you'd only control him for 3 (or 4) years. I don't think I'd do that deal.....but I'd think about it to be sure.

    We'll just disagree. I see such a TINY percent chance they are good, let alone truly competitive, next year, I see no reason to care if it is Santana or Dean pitching to start next year. start of year: Berrios Gibson May Milone Duffey after trade deadline next year: Berrios Gibson May Duffey (or, the most deserving from AA this year) the next most deserving from AA team this year

    who is suggesting trading Nolasco for a good prospect? I'd eat nearly his entire salary in exchange for a PTBNL that turns out to be you, to open a spot for Berrios. Who has suggested trading Milone for a good prospect? Most people here say to just DFA him again. I'm confused by your post.

    The GMs don't realize there aren't any FAs next year, but you do? Why do they need to try to win games this year, exactly? Isn't getting more good players for 2018 and beyond the goal right now?

    I don't see it as likely they compete next year...so I'd trade him for a decent prospect. Unlike Antony, I see no reason that prospect needs to be close to the majors, get the best prospect(s). It was a nice interview, thanks for the link.

    Ya, the cash I have now might be needed for a house in 9-12 months, so I'm more into "safe" or short term items (I've never been in this position before, so a bit paralyzed).

    Still considering getting back in NFLX, since I am "playing" with a bit of money as bets..... EDIT: Fascinating, it is trading within pennies of when I bailed......so maybe not. And, even though I HATE doing this, I might just have to cash in on NVIDIA, the stock is much higher than I ever thought it would go.....

    Fair. What's killing them, imo, is their complete inability to develop enough pitching.....

    Well, they are 12th (in the AL) in bullpen WAR for the year so far.....hard to say it is a good bullpen. If you prefer a leverage measure, like win probability.....they are 13th in the AL..... if you like ERA (ignoring inherited runners, for example)....they are 13th in the AL.... So, ya, it's not like this is even close to a good bullpen for the year.
