  1. I'm still a "show me" guy on Diaz. I hope to be proven wrong.....but he's 19 and already 250 pounds...If he can play the field at all, it is 1 position. He's going to have to REALLY hit to ever make the majors. But, man, he had a great year this year, and that is exciting! Congrats to him.
  2. I literally have no idea who they should hire. There are just so many unknowns about how a GM/POBO really works, and what constraints their owners had/have them under.....I just don't have enough knowledge about any of them to have a solid opinion.* *which is probably true of players too, but that doesn't stop me.
  3. Ya, but that far down you are seeing things worse than drow....
  4. Weren't we talking about Ervin Santana, who is only signed for 2 more years, and is in his 30s?
  5. Well, not walking under a ladder has real logic....I do that also.
  6. Pull up Fangraphs and compare the two. Very similar. Had Hrbek decided to keep playing another couple years, I would bet their WAR would be nearly identical.
  7. facts, Seth is using facts to make a point! made my day, sir, made my day.
  8. I was only talking about the hitting...... The Blue Jays fired the guy that basically built that team...
  9. fad? what does that mean, exactly? your whole thread is, well, I don't understand your point......
  10. Funny, I always compare Mattingly to Hrbek....
  11. Does it matter if they are "better" next year? Really? go young, like in 1982....
  12. He'll be 26 next year.....by the time they are out of options, he'll be 29 or 30. I don't think it matters in this case. I do think you could maybe squint and justify that, maybe. It would not be what I'd do, not given the catchers they have.
  13. I don't think that's what he said, is it? He said they have one of the worst catching situations in the majors, and can't find room on the roster for a 25 year old (who I think will be 26 before next season starts) on the 40 man this September because of a roster crunch....
  14. I actually think this was their plan: Sano=40 bombs Park and Dozier with 25 Plouffe with 20ish Rosario, Mauer, ? with 15-20 I think they wanted to be the Orioles/Blue Jays....but it didn't work out. I really believe that was their plan, hit a boat load of home runs and outscore the others with Santana, Hughes, Gibson, Duffey, Nolasco being a "good enough" rotation.
  15. Remember that Garver thread, where people said we should patient, he'll be in MN in September....good times.
  16. so cut Centeno? Or Suzuki? He's a FA..... It makes zero sense to not have Garver on this roster in Sepbtember, zero. The only constraints are self induced constraints.
  17. sometimes you need to take a step down, to move in a new direction, which is better than the path you are on..... People do understand that, right?
  18. Right now? yes, yes it is. If decent means top 15, yes. Don't forget, they also need RPs badly. If I squint, and assume it all goes well (when it hasn't any year but last, in the last 5), then I can see it.....but that's not the same as expecting it.
  19. if that is their plan.....I'd rather bet on Bridgewater leading the vikings to a SB win this year, than the Twins being in the playoffs next year.
  20. he is on the team. This is the roster. The question was.....how would you do the order, if not Dozier hitting first. As for your Mauer statement, I hope you aren't serious.
