  1. I guess I misunderstood this part: "If you think De Leon is a #3/4 type, maybe it's better to roll the dice on a ****ty FA pitcher and keep Dozier" because that part seems to say that you wouldn't trade Dozier for a number 3 pitcher. Maybe the 4 is bigger.....
  2. You wouldn't trade 2 years of Dozier, when they aren't in the playoffs, for 6 years of a number three, when hopefully they are? I would. as for your second point, why would you trade Dozier for the same offer later, if not now?
  3. If you add a starter, I assume Berrios is in the minors, and May is in the bullpen. Is that what people want, at this point? I wouldn't be shocked at a RP or two, frankly. Can't let young guys pitch in relief....even if you spend numerous 2nd and 3rd round picks on them.
  4. common sense=world is flat argument, Nick. Is there any evidence that making one bad deal, or one great deal, changes how other deals happen? I'm not arguing you or others are wrong, I am asking if anyone has any data on this at all, or we just "know it is true".
  5. Nick's article left off the most likely outcome....Dozier is good to very good, the Twins can't pitch, lose 85-90 games, and then do it again next year, and then Dozier leaves as a FA.
  6. Well, they have nothing else to trade, does this matter? Is there any evidence, anywhere, that anyone can find, anywhere, that making one "bad" trade leads to bad offers in the future, or is this "the earth is flat, everyone knows that"? Seriously, just give me some actual data about this. One piece.
  7. I guess we are about to find out, aren't we. Sigh.
  8. Dozier couldn't throw out Brock from SS (I so wish you could tag people here....).
  9. you had to go there.....can't wait to read about Treadwell this off season. ugh. not on vikings journal of course....
  10. How many times did I read "OF defense doesn't matter" last year.....
  11. I agree with this, except the part where Mauer is somehow at fault. He was a SUPER TALL catcher, who is wearing down, not out of laziness, but because that's what years of HS football and professional catching has done to his body. If Sano can't play 3rd, I try him at first, but I expect him to be a DH "soon"...
  12. Not sure I understand......are you arguing that if they hit, but played bad defense (i.e., the reverse of last year), they'd be good? I'd argue no, that it takes both run prevention and run scoring....not one or the other (unless you are ridiculously dominant on one side).
  13. It seems unlikely, imo, he'll either hit as well, or field as badly, as he did last year, but fair point. As long as it isn't Dan San....
  14. Disagree....Kepler is what, 22? He should be playing every single day, to get better. I'd only platoon older players, frankly, like at 1B and DH and catcher for obvious reasons. But, imo, every young starter should play as much as possible. That's how you get better. I'd be good with more platoons in the future, but not now.
  15. Agreed on the playing SS part. It's like there was no long, or even short term, plan for how Dozier and Polanco are on the same roster. I really don't get the planning at all, frankly.
  16. either they don't agree with us that good RPs should be signed, or um, I have no idea what is going on, frankly.
  17. No matter what, if he and Dozier are here, Polanco should play SS for half a year, to see what happens, imo. They aren't making the playoffs, if they can't manage to, you know, actually trade older players for younger players, they need to see what they have.
  18. Huh, I read 4 star.....but still, either way, this class is about 100x better than it was. Hoping he can coach also....
  19. Number 1 safety in the nation....from Alabama, coming to MN? Clearly, this guy can recruit.
  20. Hughes had one great year and not much else... Why would we expect another year, unlike most of his career? I think relief is his future, possibly very good future
  21. I like MSFT also. I have money in drgo and GM for safety and dividends also. Sold a lot of Nvidia today, at around 250℅ return to pay off some debt. Nice year. Still have a lot of that stock. Still love it.
  22. Trading a catcher for a relief pitcher we didn't need is like trading for a starting pitcher with six years of control left? The Santana trade would look a lot better had they kept Hardy....A lot
  23. Do we know this to be true? And why is Sano being traded?
  24. Is there any evidence making one bad trade leads to more bad trades. Does anyone have data on that, or do we just magically know it is true? And Dozier is a leader and will help with contention? Really? How did that leadership work out last year?
