  1. so, be concerned about Sano's results, but don't be concerned about ESan's results? I assume that DanSan is on this roster, no matter how bad his spring.
  2. Good golly. There are 12-16 hours of awake time every day. Do you not play games or read books or watch baseball games? Does that make you bad at your job. Wow people? These are humans, not robots.
  3. I'd take Murphy over Gimenez.....no issues there. this TEAM suffers from an unhealthy obsession with veterans, as shown by their pursuit of 41 year old DH types.
  4. He's a 26 YO catcher, I doubt service time will matter much....especially if he can't hit, as you posit.
  5. Hmmm. Not sure I think any of these guys matter to the future of the Twins. But I've been surprised before.
  6. I would love to have my own golf course, let's do this!
  7. CamdenWarehouse 12:56 Do you think that fans are expecting more from young guys than they have in the past? If so, is it irrational and we're being colored by recent successes or is the aging curve moving to the point where we should expect more? Eno Sarris 12:57 There's evidence that peaks are coming earlier than we thought. Might be as early as 24-25. And with velo declining from day one, you might just want to take a guy with some polish (can be a little less than Urias) and get him to bigs as quick as possible.
  8. all fair, we just disagree. Garver won't get more than 60 ABs in 2018 if Castro is healthy. At some point, you need to call him up. As for the depth in AAA thing....I'd rather the best LT options were in MN, learning about the majors, now, rather than later. We've had depth preached to us for the last several years, that we should keep the crappy veterans in MN and have depth in AAA.....how's that worked out? not so great, imo.
  9. heh....I just re-posted pretty much the same thought....
  10. I'm going to quote myself on this: Some say "Garver has to play every day"....well, he won't likely be asked to do that next year, either, assuming Castro is healthy. How many years will you hold him back, so that he can play every day in AAA?
  11. Well, we've seen pretty clearly by their actions they want veterans, right? Their pursuit of 41 year old DH options, their signing of multiple bad/mediocre RPs, and the likelihood of Gimenez being on the roster over Murphy or Garver. It wasn't about his age, it's about their preference for veterans, on a rebuilding team that is already not all that young....
  12. so, basically judge a hitter by RBI. And people think Molitor is going to be a great manager....
  13. If he never comes up, because it is important to get AAA reps and have depth....I'd rather have him here if he's better than Murphy or Gimenez this year or next year...
  14. It's important that 26 year olds be in the minors for more seasoning....they are just too young to be in the majors.
  15. Kepler (and those interested) should read this: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/j-d-martinez-debunks-conventional-wisdom-thinks-a-tipping-point-is-near/ It freaking quotes this thread....nice job TD!
  16. Can we add "who can actually play a position" to that requirement, Brock?
  17. It's actually pretty clear from the math that trying to hit ground balls is a bad idea. No matter what the situation is. No matter who the hitter is. He's not saying that, I don't think. But some commentors seem to be.
  18. It is a great list of names. Here's hoping every one of them is up 1-2 rungs by the end of the year. I can understand starting someone in a warmer climate, but at some point, those guys have to pitch in the cold in the majors. Unless there is an injury concern, I wouldn't worry about the temp. No surprise, but I am pretty aggressive, especially with arms, and would like Gonsalves in AAA, and Romero in AA to start the year. I don't really have a ton of interest in mediocre old guys in the majors, I'd rather have young guys that need work there.....but I get not everyone agrees. Nor am I trying to convince anyone.
  19. I'm almost 53, so I'm a bit more worried about the next correction than some of you should be. At 7%, it takes 8 years to break even from a 40% fall in prices. I'd be 61 then.....I'd kind of like to only lose 20% in the next correction somehow. So, I am looking at things, and thinking about putting in automatic sales. OTOH, I thought the market would drop in the weeks following the election, then bounce up, then come down sometime this year. So, wtf do I know?
  20. I just binge watched season one of the magicians. Wow. Super dark. Making the students older made sense. Don't watch this if you don't like violence. It's not always there, but when it is, it is dark.
  21. Posting here instead of the usual thread: Eric 9:21 Phil Hughes made his 2nd start and was consistently at 87-88 MPH on the radar gun. Do you think he can ramp up to 90? Are all pitchers in ST sitting at 2-4 MPH below their normal velocity? Jeff Sullivan 9:22 It's still very early in spring. Many pitchers are below their summer velocities. Arm strength, in general, isn't even fully built up by April or May. Be patient here
