  1. Interest on one million is a drop in the bucket, when looking at their cost structure and revenue...... Less than it costs to sign a random sixteen year old on July 2.... So hopefully that isn't the deciding factor....
  2. I can't believe people think this price is any kind of barrier to future spending.
  3. In a quick look on the internet, the only recent study I can find, showed that an average of sixty percent of players did worse their second year on offense, than their first. However, that study did not control for the fact that batting averages were declining across the league.... The other studies I saw said that players regress to the mean their second year, but most players regress to the mean, that's why it's the mean..... So, not surprisingly, some players play worse, some better.....
  4. Remember when this was a thread about Kepler? Me neither.
  5. I think you are both right. There was no opportunity in NY in the OF, and he's probably not great out there.... As for here? Well, they didn't play Astudillo at catcher the first time.....
  6. Shopify, Okta, New Relic.....
  7. Good for him! Of course, to win, they'll need to add players....
  8. How so? The option years can be any price they negotiate. And, it looks like Kepler has a deal more evenly spread out, which was really the wish.
  9. Just started the expanse. It's good.
  10. Not sure, but I'm sure there are unintended consequences of front loading
  11. Agreed. Which I totally get. Just not what I'd do if I was a billionaire. But I get it. What I want is not what I expect, which some confuse here.
  12. Too bad they didn't front load it, to keep that flexibility. But that I would expect them to, but if your budget is really yearly, that would make some sense if you were worried about future spending.
  13. They are no longer the only team without a commitment past this year!
  14. No idea why so many think this is about Gordon. It's about signing a guy they like to keep him around. Probably at a reasonable number. If they like him, this is exactly what they should do, no matter who is in the minors.
  15. I hope they are aggressive. I believe we are looking at 2021......I hope to be wrong on the timing.
  16. Brusdar 1:24 What are my chances at being a MLB starter? Scouts think there is too much effort in my delivery, but man I throw a lot of strikes. Kiley McDaniel 1:24 Not that much effort, just not fine in terms of command and we think he should lengthen the stride some, but the super easy arm speed is beyond elite
  17. If it's so easy to teach, why doesn't everyone have one? That said, if you aren't excited about this prospect, I don't know if you will ever will be.
  18. Who is saying top 10? They aren't even at the median right now......who said top 10? Especially if you take out the teams not even trying.... Analytics is NOT about not taking risks, just the opposite. It's about using math to determine the best path among all the risky paths, and to attempt to quantify that, rather than just eyeball it.
  19. I don't have ESPN, so zero? Fangraphs is quite high on him, for example. The reports say he can hit. And I like guys that can hit.
  20. Austin, Cron, Duda, Cruz.... Other teams are looking for guys that can play multiple positions, and the Twins have brought in four DH, 1B, types. Right after drafting Rooker. I don't get it. It's too early to give up on Gordon, but last year is a red flag to raise doubts.
  21. Corner OF isn't no value. I have no idea if Javier will be good or not, but the certainty that people are expressing here is surprising, given how little he's played at all.
  22. The fix, as you say, is to truly share revenue. But I don't see that happening either. I'm all for inequality if it means players get more.
