  1. Not a fan of picking up players that haven't been good, if they are out of options. but whatever. I prefer my bullpen to mostly be great pitchers, or guys with options that can go down and up.
  2. Do you think people running teams ignore culture? I'd guess winning creates a happy work place more than the people, unless the people are over the top negative, like an outlier.
  3. It can have an effect for sure, but it's it a necessary ingredient? Can you predict it, until players actually spend time together? Would you get rid of the best player on your team if three guys didn't get along with him? I think it's a big part of the managers job, but adjusting players on the team should be about talent, imo.
  4. Chemistry is almost always a post hoc argument. Do people really think every bad team has bad chemistry, and every good team good? No chance.
  5. I'd like him to play about 40 games at first this year, and 80-100 at catcher. Pinch hit in the rest of the games. but that bat should not play as little as it did this year. Also, yes, I'd consider moving him. Just like I said they should move Mauer from behind the plate to preserve his health and bat......same exact reason.
  6. I think Price is a realistic trade candidate, that the Twins could get. I am unsure how I feel about that, due to his health and decline (though the decline could easily reverse, imo).
  7. While I agree it is unlikely he doesn't go much beyond that......there is no evidence of the Verducci effect being real.....and if Gaterol is healthy and a starter, he should pitch as many innings as they need him to. But, most teams are risk adverse by nature, and follow the rule to a large degree.
  8. I both like and hate this post so much....
  9. "has the potential" is about 10000x different than "is better than"......
  10. Kershaw is not going anywhere. Paddock? No chance. The Padres are loaded on the farm. You'd have to trade two MLB starters and a good minor league player to even start a conversation. No chance he's being traded. He's going to be in his prime when they are good. Seriously bad take. The other two? Possible, but not in love with Archer at all.
  11. Gaterol, who has zero MLB starts, is better than any of them? Wow.
  12. I have no idea what this means re: my post.
  13. I think people forget this. Many teams did not want him at four million..... Those saying the money doesn't matter, can you really say that with certainty given this team's history?
  14. What did you base this knowledge of the future on?
  15. It's all about the budget. If signing him stops them from signing a great pitcher, no way. If signing him has no effect on off season and during the season deals, I'm indifferent
  16. I agree, but I tried to get a different answer..... mike sixel 2:17 I know players usually take the most money, but should Jason Castro take a bit less to stay in MN, since he'll likely play less than elsewhere, and keep his body more healthy? Or is that 100% backward, and he should go where he plays more and gets more money? Craig Edwards 2:17 I think he would probably just like to play more and get paid more and presumably the team that offers him the most money plans to do so. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/craig-edwards-fangraphs-chat-10-24-2019/
  17. Agree. But if they roll the dice on a different veteran, with the plan for Rortverdt and, or, Jeffers, to be up at some point, I'm ok with that. Not thrilled, but ok.
  18. Dobnak is so good he gets paid twice! * Those number jibe with what I've seen elsewhere, give or take....I'd really like an experienced catcher behind Garver also. * I think, and hopefully you see this as humor.....
  19. Agreed on all of this, which is why I'm in on not bringing Cron back.....Cruz is so good that he partly makes up for the drop off in starting a rookie in place of Cron, then next year if Cruz is gone (or at least not as good) that rookie is no longer a rookie..... And I can't see how they keep Rosario around, not with as many minor league OFers as they have, not at what arbitration salaries will require as time goes on. Probably next year, but not after that I'd guess.
  20. what if it takes four years? I agree there is no chance they sign Cole, and I bet the Nats extend Strasburg.
  21. when he first appeared, or came up to stay and star? Those are two very different things.....
