    Pretty much after my first job......my wife and I really wanted a cushion for emergencies. I mean, I started saving when I was a kid, I had a few thousand saved up before college (which was a decent amount back then)......

    Cave? I have my doubts, you need 4 OF. And Marwin and Astudillo are not OF. Can Garver play the OF?

    Try him in the OF and see if he can platoon with Kepler, I'm guessing.......or at least PH sometimes and stay out there w/o being terrible.....

    The Twins had A LOT more pitches on the line.....so the fact that more were missed is not a surprise to me.

    No one has suggested he's going to hit .350.....the question is "is he going to hit better than the alternatives"....... Why is it far fetched to suggest he can't be the super sub that Marwin or others have been, giving other players an occasional day off?

    I'm not sure their opinion changed....but maybe it did. But plenty of sites have had him ranked as a likely RP all along....

    They are supposed to be smarter than a bunch of random people on a fan site..... I too think things are working out well now. (IIRC, lots of us questioned him not catching in the first call up, LOTS).

    I think being excited about the possibilities is very different than drawing conclusions.......what I read is that people want him to get a chance to show if he is, or is not, a player. All the evidence points to him being a player, and that teams haven't given him a shot because of pre-conceived bias about his body and his pedigree (which is only human nature).

    They promoted him earlier, and didn't have him catch. It was a lost season much earlier than September, no one not planned to be on the roster this year should have played much at all......He also could have played 3B when Sano got hurt.

    I'd really like him to learn what he can, and cannot, do.....and act accordingly. I don't think that ball was cartchable, and at this age and experience level, he needs to know that better. Let's hope so.

    Top 20 HITTING corner OF, plus above average defense is not good enough to be on a winning team? What, exactly, are you expecting from every position player?

    zero people think Astudillo is a 380 hitter......I'm not sure your point there. What he is a hitter, who should get a chance to show he is or is not. He should have received that chance last year, a smart team would have given it to him......

    Agreed on part 1 for sure. He's been quite good when healthy.

    4th OF combo stats? He was exactly league median compared to CF last year, as a hitter. He just doesn't get that chance here while Buxton is healthy. 18th among RF as a hitter. 19th as a LF. I'm not sure who you are comparing him to, exactly, but it isn't the rest of the league.

    Most of them have agreements in place when they are 14 or 15.... And, not really on the "nature" of signing them. Turns out that the rankings hold some merit. And my distaste for signing a 1B/DH is not hindsight...... Whatever, the roster looks decent, and I hope Diaz turns out to be a player, but I have my doubts.

    Let's hope so. They had the most money that year, and picked the wrong guy so far, by far.

    How does he prove worthy if he doesn't play? I'm not sure the current 3B is a better hitter. I'm not sure any of the catchers are better, though it is likely Castro is better defensively and Garver offensively, I'm not sure when you combine the two they are better. Note, I'm saying "not sure", as in, I don't know. But, since all he does is hit, I'd like to find out. They should have found out last year, in a lost year. That was bad strategy all around. I'd go for 3-4 starts a week, and see what happens. It's not like he would be replacing all stars.....
