  1. What good is targeting if you miss the target? Is all we care about effort?
  2. I don't know that Smith is a better prospect than the guys they already have. Like, I have no idea. But if he is, I doubt Gordon and Romero can get him to MN.
  3. Agreed, but it is their job to improve the team. If they can't convince free agents to come here, they need to improve on that ability. That's part of their job, just like every executive in their position.
  4. The KEY WORD was added.......added was the key word in the post.
  5. This was the largest and best free agent starting pitching class in years, maybe decades. They had one, huge, glaring, weakness. So far, they've added a number five starter, and a guy who won't be healthy until July. Would you can that a success?
  6. Great win. I was clearly wrong about this game! Wish I could have watched it. I miss having a day full of football background noise....
  7. I'd suggest they win one playoff game before we talk about "championship" windows. But that's just me. YMMV, of course.
  8. Your post said fans don't get probabilities.... Did it not?
  9. No one is disagreeing, bit that had nothing to do with the Royals trades. I'd love it if the Twins traded good prospects for great players and then signed them to long extensions. If they drafted and developed pitchers.
  10. Fine, how do you pass them next year? Which was clearly the question. And, there are no guarantees.
  11. The Royals didn't sell the farm. One guy they traded turned out to be good, maybe two.
  12. And how do you propose closing the gap next year, when Cruz is gone, and there are less free agent pitchers? Just keep waiting for the exact perfect moment?
  13. Chief literally posted adding good players increases your probability of success, so I don't get this rant.
  14. Other than a small number of posters,I think most are ok with young guys filling the last spot. But that has little to do with Hill and Bailey. Also, Pineda and Hill missing the first quarter and half year..... Means more young guys starting.
  15. Garver is a catcher and can't be a free agent for years. You don't sign relief pitchers to long term deals. Arraez has played half a year and doesn't need extending any time soon. And Cruz and Rosario come off soon. They aren't near 130, either. Which is still lower than fifty percent of revenue. People keep talking about preserving flexibility, and the team keeps not using it..... Other than pocketing it.
  16. The money isn't gone. It's in the owner's pockets. Not the players. Or the employees.
  17. If you don't use the money, what is financial flexibility for? For years, people here told me that I shouldn't judge the Twins' draft picks in the 20s harshly, because I shouldn't expect much. That it wasn't really possible for a mid market team to have sustained success, that it went in cycles. Now? I'm supposed to believe that I was right, that a team good at drafting and trading and developing can have sustained success? Which is it?
  18. The bet is not doing something better, not the money. The money is irrelevant.
  19. No chance they do this. Too much money, or too much in prospects.
  20. So, nothing has changed. Inexpensive free agents. No trading of big time prospects. The opposite of Houston. For three years, this board said things would be different. I hope this works, and they are great this year.
  21. Long term solutions found! I have no idea if it works for this year, but they are setting themselves up to be pitching poor next year, again.
  22. Knives Out was very good
  23. which is literally waht the post that you quoted said......
