  1. If the Vikings dont trade for a guy that was bad everywhere he played, and sign Flacco, they are in the playoffs, imo. I don't blame them for not knowing about Flacco, but ever thinking Dobbs was the answer was an awful decision by this FO.
  2. I don't think saying "we need to cut payroll" effects the return in trades at all. GMs and owners know what's what.....
  3. People are questioning Lee's results, when he was too good for AA less than a year out of college.... Mind. Boggling.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if they finish last or first next year at this point. A very variable team
  5. I agree with the above, this team does not make room for young guys when healthy veterans are in their way. Wallner is a good example of this.
  6. That's a serious lack of patience. Last year wasn't bad, it just wasn't good enough.
  7. I don't for one minute think it is likely Canterino is healthy enough to pitch as a starter than I think it is likely Buxton plays 120 games in the field and 30 at DH. The Twins have 5 starters, plus SWR and Festa....they didn't have the luxury with Ober, IIRC. I'm suggesting what I'd do, not anything more or less.
  8. If Canterino is a great RP, I'd take that with Duran and Stewart and Jax......that's more likely, imo, to work than him ever starting. He's not 21, he's on the 40 man.....use him.
  9. KAM said today it is his intention to bring back Kirk (I read that elsewhere, so unsure if true, but I trust the source).
  10. The scouting reports on him are good defense, so I disagree he won't be average or better.
  11. That's what everyone said about their closer.....I think Canterino is in the bullpen this year.
  12. Nick's point stands, but I think they'll struggle to replace Gray's contribution this year..... Also, it would be nice if they kept guys and added guys, rather than replacing them, so the team got better. Like, keep Gray and add Montgomery is better than lose Gray and add Montgomery (it's an example, not realistic with their budget). I love Lee, but projecting him to be as good as CC is odd to me. CC was on a HoF path .... and still might be if he's healthy for the next 5 years.
  13. I bet you could read that every decade since the game started. And yet, here we are.
  14. Verizon and it's big dividend is where some of my money is going. But I'm older now, so less risk in some areas is important.
  15. I rode Nvidia to a very nice year. Still haven't fully recovered from not cashing out two stocks at their peak.... But closer.
  16. For those interested in the value of zips, there is plenty of data on line about its usefulness relative to the stats you all know.... I also will believe it when I see it with Buxton, but that has very little to do with the model, which has a hard time knowing medical conditions.
  17. agreed. And, if they really love a QB they can move up back into round 1 if they want. But I'm all in on fixing the team for the coming year and forgoing QB if they sign Kirk (assuming no QB is there late in round or early round 3 to deal from 2025 picks to move up for, which, seems like a good assumption).
  18. They played 3-4 abysmal offenses. When they didn't, they were quite bad. And, Hunter is a FA.....
  19. The issue is they can't fix the D if they use a first on a QB and sign Kirk...not in the first year surely....so, good luck fixing it in the last year Kirk is here. That's a lot to put on Kirk (and wasting 2 years of the new QB not playing with the great O they have now). I just don't like the idea of using limited capital on 2 QBs, given this D. YMMV, of course. Penix and Nix are older...by the time they play in your system they are 25 and 26. Not sure I'm up for that.
  20. CBS sports has a new mock up today, with Penix going 8th to Atlanta.....for those that are sure last night hurt his draft stock.
  21. There is a chart on Twitter showing quadrants of cap space and draft capital. The Vikes are just above average in both....but under 25 million in effective cap space. If that's right, I don't know how you sign Kirk and Hunter and any really good FAs....other than cap magic. Oh, and pay the 11th overall pick. The Bears are way above the Vikes in cap space and draft capital, and the Lions have A LOT more cap space than MN. I wonder how competitive those two are if they do the right things, and if that effects MN 's decisions on short vs long term thinking (it shouldn't, I think?)?
  22. I'm going to speculate the Dodgers don't pay him that much if they thought he was only a 2 WAR player.....but I could be wrong here. Either way, we've all made our points and no one is changing their mind.
  23. Except not many people get QOs....that's the point here. 14 got one in 2022...and 2 accepted...so, top 15 give or take? And, as has been pointed out, the Dodgers have A LOT of money to spend. And 8.5 million of the money is deferred over 9 years starting in 2030, so his present value isn't at QO level.
  24. How long will the rest of the O be top though? 3 seasons from now everyone could be gone/hurt, or great! That's a LONG WAY off. That last part is my point about Kirk....if the D can't be good in 1 year, you are putting all your chips on 2025. (or being very lucky in 2024). Not having a better draft two years ago really, really, complicates the math for me (maybe they know Hunter is coming back, etc. and it isn't that hard for them).
