  1. Either that, or I was thinking the Yankees might forfeit a couple times.
  2. The old adage is to win your home games, and split on the road. This would put the Twins on a pace to finish about 120-40.
  3. RIOT ALERT: The internet tells me that Jason Bartlett is 5-12 lifetime vs Kazmir with 3 walks. So Bark I hope this looks ok to you, my guess at a starting lineup for the opener: 4 Dozier 3 Mauer DH Colabello 5 Plouffe 9 Kubel 2 Pinto 8 Hicks 7 Herrmann 6 Bartlett I am ok with this. It gives Bartlett a redeeming opportunity. Willingham's injury allows everyone to move up a slot. It still doesn't inspire me to dream but it's not too bad with how most of these guys are swinging right now.
  4. I think some people are being a little hard on Herrmann. He has some decent seasons in the minors. He's only 26 which by Twins standards is young.
  5. something needs to happen. We can't go into opener with two bench guys (one being the backup catcher). I'd send down a pitcher for a couple days before sending someone to DL
  6. Yeah catcher has been a black hole since Pierzynski
  7. I've been saying since day 1 that Kubel needs to be on the lineup /not
  8. Nah, I'm hoping Kubel holds the spot, and if Hicks needs a day off or comes up with a scratch or bump we can just roll with an outfield of Willingham-Bartlett-Kubel for a few games
  9. The only problem is your main justification for using Bartlett is also a justification for using any other player: "Since _________ and _______ are not shortstops of the future, we might as well use _________ to fill the gap." But to your other point, Bartlett could probably out hit Florimon. But ironically with the offense starting hot, Florimons bat is not such a liability. Florimon's glove is good to great, depending on who you ask. Also, Gardy loves Florimon as much as he loves Bartlett, so there's that. either of those two guys could have justifiably started at AAA and no one would have blinked an eye. But here they are.
  10. Good perspective. I think Gardy has some flaws but when you take your mind out of the present and think about the bigger picture, it's been an impressive career.
  11. It would be nice to line up Gibby with a big zone ump sometime. Unfortunately I don't think we know the umpire assignments until the series starts.
  12. grey just feels more grey than gray
  13. What do we know about the plaintiffs? Will they take this to trail or at least a happy outcome? Or are they in it for a settlement.
  14. I forgot about that, will have to go back and check. Amazing film.
  15. Oh, my. You've touched a nerve with me! I can start a new thread in the sports bar forum if you like
  16. So would everyone. Unfortunately these are only two of the six options. The others are: lose with veterans play about .500 with veterans play about .500 with prospects win with prospects
  17. So yeah, it was a line drive hit right at him, about chest high. Not sure I'd put that in the top ten web gems. Also if you want to call the leadoff guy in the eighth a "rally" be my guest
  18. Atteberry. i didn't get a chance to practice spelling his name in the offseason
  19. Reusse's article talks about Plouffe's bat, not his glove or throwing, which is what I thought we were discussing. I'm perfectly fine letting Plouffe play full time to see if he can find his swing and come back as a bench bat next year - so agree with Greed guy and Seth on that. There was also the range issue you mentioned on the two run double in the second game. It was a well hit ground ball but not a bullet by any means. Many or most third baseman make that play, or at least get dirty trying. That said, I am actually okay with chalking up early season blunders to the cold weather. It's not something you ever want to tell the media though
  20. Which circles back to the original question: is Deduno a reliever at all? Well I suppose as an early inning guy in mop up duty, or a guy to be stretched out in the real late extra inning games like coming in for the 11th.
  21. Plouffe has been hard to watch at every position the Twins have tried him in. I am more than happy scholarshipping Sano into the starting lineup beginning opening day 2015.
  22. I'd slow clap this if I could find the emoticon
  23. Cold weather affects grip. The chart shows Perkins threw fastball virtually every pitch. So I'm curious why Deduno was throwing curves at the end.
