    I'm a Gladden guy but he sometimes gets so wrapped up in being "Gladden the action hero" that he forgets to do play by play during his innings. Very hard to stomach. Add to that Uecker tonight, who is his own legend and is himself terrible at play by play, and you got the makings of a disaster. Kind of glad I didn't hear it. Like just about everyone else in this org, Gladden needs a "come to Jesus or else" talking to , from someone.

    Thanks for the link WH to the Sports Show. Yeah Reusse is pretty teed at the Twins situation like a lot of other people. Also in the Sports Show, we learn from Sid that: - Love will be re-signing with the Timberwolves; - the NFL will be moving to London, Paris, and "other towns" in Europe; - the Vikings coaching staff will be rolling with Ponder as starting QB next season; - Mauer is not swinging well right now. Sid batting 1-4 last night

    There is the 2010 Cleveland Indians, who debuted top prospect Carlos Santana that year, and never carried more than two catchers all year, despite having Chris Gimenez available in AAA (a Chris Herrmann clone who played C and OF) as a possible emergency/third catcher. In Cleveland's 46 games with Santana active, Santana started 40 games at catcher, 5 games at DH, and sat 1 game, but entered that game as PH. There is the 2012 Seattle Mariners, who debuted top prospect Jesus Montero full time (acquired from Yankees). Seattle carried three catchers all season in 2012 and all three of those catchers also got significant DH time. Montero, John Jaso, Miguel Olivo. Matt Wieters had 10 games DH when he debuted in 2009, someone could look that one up.

    I think baseball needs an axe man like in football. I think Gardy would have a really tough time breaking the news to Kubel personally, but my understanding is it's the managers job to do that.

    Bumping this. This hits at a core issue. Fuld goes on the 7 day concussion and is permitted as much comfort and time as possible, allowed to wait until he has several consecutive symptom free days before resuming baseball activities. Hicks comes off the 7 day concussion and a week later, his work ethic is questioned. Anyone care to clarify this?

    Kubel has been having better at bats, been seeing the ball well in batting practice. Hitting it all over the place. So say Gardy and Kubel. Meanwhile, does Kubel really need to still bat in the middle of the lineup and take at-bats from Pinto? Good grief...

    It's possible you might be right about the Santana-CF/Hicks-curveball comment. Time will tell. Santana is not a center fielder though. Not right now anyway. The only reason I can think that he is out there is that Gardy is given free rein to run the roster any way he chooses. Specifically, Santana has given up on shallow fly balls that could have been caught. Santana seems to lack the awareness to communicate with other fielders well. He cannot position himself under a fly ball in a sac-fly situation. His throws are off mark regularly. His speed bails him out on misjudged fly balls. Et cetera. He's doing the best he can, but that doesn't mean he should be out there. This is only based off comments I've read and a few short video clips at MLB. I've only been able to watch a few innings live. Someone else might be able to give you a more succinct answer.

    Short and to the point, and I agree. Dozier should have a day off Sunday. Let's see one of those old fashioned Tom Kelly getaway day lineups tomorrow!
