  1. Suzuki hit 2nd in the season opener last year. And that wasn't even the Suzuki we think of when we think of Suzuki.
  2. I don't recognize this team today, unless you count those first several games.
  3. My thoughts exactly You lost me at Patrick Sharp. But the you won me back at Mauer's twins!!! But then you lost me again at the dog show. And then you really lost me at the mouse poop...
  4. Don't forget how awful Plouffe was in the field. I also seriously doubt something will suddenly click for Arcia and make him competent in the field, but it can happen.
  5. Personally I'm not overly concerned with the bullpen handling right now. Not with the starters pitching well and two off days next week. We could always go to 13 pitchers if necessary EDIT: yeah I would have brought in Perkins last night too
  6. No patience for testing a young reliever with an important inning in mid-May? Tough crowd to please.
  7. Yeah he actually struggled a little in the first few innings. Some well hit balls. A few guys had some real long at bats, fouling off bunches of pitches. You wondered to yourself how far he will go in the majors without a true strikeout pitch. And then those last couple innings were a clinic. Guys were just baffled from all those fastballs early on and it got in their heads. They were flailing at that sinker ball. Gibson was toying with them.
  8. You are correct that a few of those guys really don't have a realistic shot, even though they are pitching well. (But I defer to the people who actually observe these guys rather than read the stat lines.) In terms of winning a spot on your 2016 rotation list, I'd bet Berrios is ahead of Meyer. The Twins probably still want Milone on that list too. When Berrios is eventually promoted to somewhere, I think you might see Chih-Wei Hu promoted to Chattanooga--another guy to keep an eye on.
  9. and most of those guys in the minors have better stats than Berrios at this point.
  10. Rosario back to AAA. But, I think you call up Hicks to play him, and Robinson has been great with the glove (I think) so he needs to be out there too. My scenario would be Arcia and Hunter platooning in RF with Hunter DH-ing vs righties on the other days.
  11. Game 1, 1998 WS, everybody is expecting the national anthem, and then this happens... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0GP_16JhVk
  12. Not even a Meyer diehard like me can argue that he belongs in the Twins rotation right now. However, I think promoting him to the MLB bullpen would be fine. He gets a change of environment and he can let it rip for three batters. It's perfectly routine for a future starting pitcher to pitch out of the bullpen before entering the rotation. I seriously doubt it would hurt Meyer's psyche to be told he's being promoted to the big club
  13. Pink bats today! Thanks for the game set up--much different today from all the black helicopters from yesterday's set up
  14. Hunter is on fire right now. And he'll be the first one to tell you so. I think we're slowly seeing a platoon/DH type of situation develop, which is perfect. Keep his bat in the lineup and let young guys like Rosario get more reps in the outfield positions.
  15. I agree completely with the OP. What he's doing now isn't working. Maybe the major league bullpen is a better place for him than (my opinion here) sitting around in a Triple AAA town doing nothing four days a week and then on the fifth day, pushing his heavy boulder up the hill like Sysyphus. I think he needs a change of scene. Some of us have been fighting for Meyer but he's shown us nothing. He's not starting rotation material. His best start did come with Ryan in personal attendance, however. I still think he's a better piece in the pen than a couple other guys we have though.
  16. Did this guy pitch with Jim Palmer and the pennant winning teams a few years later?
  17. Bingo. Ironically, under Molitor, Santana and particularly Escobar have been playing out of position, without any ill effect to the W-L record. Also, starting pitching.
  18. Also, Cole Hamels has a no-trade clause against most teams in the Midwest. In other words, he wouldn't want to play here. I think that needs to be factored. I think its fair to start wondering what to do with Sano, however. The Twins love their Plouffie at third base and neither Sano or Plouffe are suited to play anywhere else.
  19. I would say he is the luckiest from among the four inner-ring planets..... He is getting results even while his peripherals stink. Throw out that first horrible start at Detroit and he probably looks closer to normal, which should mean he will continue to get results. There was this discussion thread linking to this article on Gibson's unusual but consistent ability to draw weak contact on his fly balls when he's not inducing grounders. So perhaps he's both good and lucky.
  20. There's no way this guy pitches the whole season in high A ball.
  21. and....... that's why you like your relievers to strike guys out.
  22. steak dinners for everyone who posts a comment?
  23. lemme guess... something to do with the number 100
  24. Also tying an MLB record (if you think about it)
