Mollie likes to keep his starting nine in the lineup, but it's not uncommon to need 2 pinch hitters at #9 in an NL game, not counting you might want to pinch hit for Rosario. Blech.
OK This is way too much fun Chih-Wei Hu is starting for Rochester tomorrow. Who is the opposing pitcher? If you guessed.. Scott Diamond, you would be correct.
I highly doubt Buxton will be traded to the Dodgers. But something's got to give with all the corner infield/outfield/DH type guys including Plouffe in that group. There's too much potential value there, and not enough spots in the lineup.
I doubt the Twins even know how this will play out. The thing that would bother me the most is if Sano continues to rake but is held back in the minors anyway.
Before we send Brian Duensing off to greener pastures ball fields, we should give him a Standing O for this: Article: Brian Duensing: Striking Out Batters, Striking Out Cancer And for this http://i.minus.com/ib0ypl7o56t9HX.gif
Basically, yes, eyewitness accounts by knowledgeable people are worth at least as much. I'm just trying to get a more complete picture. However, I checked and....... Sano has the most errors in the Southern League. So you win
I appreciate you going over to bbref for me to report on fielding percentages, but also be sure to check out the link to Ryan's comments and jokin's first hand account in the comments above I'm pretty sure I've seen Dozier boot more than one easy ground ball this year even though I haven't seen anywhere near all the games. Probably the scorers are tougher on the fielders in AAA and have more freedom to actually report and score the plays accurately down there. Everything is a hit in MLB. I do agree with you that if putting Sano in the outfield temporarily gets him to MLB sooner, then we should consider it.
The "problem" is that Plouffe is playing pretty darn well. Very odd remarks by Antony. On the other hand, Ryan speaks well of Sano's play at third: http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_28130128/despite-errors-twins-miguel-sano-impresses-terry-ryan Supposedly this is a good problem, when a major league club doesn't have any playing time to give an elite prospect whose time has come. Or should come soon. So we'll see what happens.
Bring up the young guys. And we are already doing that. If they struggle, everyone will see it, and you just send them back to the minors. Admittedly there's an issue with what to do with Sano as long as Plouffe continues to play well. But Rosario had a nice game today. May pitched well. Hicks works better than Schafer for the moment as a placeholder for Buxton. Maybe Hicks even has a future in left or right. You could find room for Meyer in the bullpen if you really wanted. And so on. The home team is playing well right now but I don't think that means we completely abandon the development process for the prospect types. Those are they guys who will compose the next playoff teams.
He was cooked. But I like your thinking. Also Molly let him retire that next batter, which is nice too. That might have been a righty/lefty/righty multiple pitcher situation for a majority of managers
When Suzuki sets up low and away, try not to let the pitch run belt high and inside... Still, good to see the crowd give May a nice ovation. There will be days like this.
I think you are right, but I hope the Twins are privately planning to cancel that flight back to Ft Myers if Hu pitches well. This can't be only about "needing someone." They play every day AAA too so pitching shortages aren't unheard of. Or Stauffer might have made the start. (Assuming 3 weeks is long enough for an intercostal strain.) I could be wrong. Now watch him not get out of the second... Anyway, Hu is putting up unreal numbers. Why label a guy so young or assume there's a ceiling on what he might do?
