  1. I'm also wondering about more obscure information like bunt strikes--Twins must lead the league!-- or glove to throwing hand transfer (Centeno surely is quicker than Suzuki) and especially check swing data. It seems like Sano goes through some rough check swing phases, and he struck out on one last night. Is Sano doing this more than he did in the minors? If so, why? Does Donaldson check swing much? Is that sort of data available anywhere?
  2. Agree with OP though I think TD is pretty mild. I think the problem is something deeper in the culture of the organization.
  3. I don't like that you did that because I like the original one. Or something.
  4. Just answered Mike and I think we are in somewhat agreement on Dozier. But I disagree about contending. Since 2012 we are in the era of 2-wildcard teams per league, and you can't just punt a season anymore just because you're not the best team in the division. A run of dominance is several years away (I think that's what some people mean when they say "contending"), but a wildcard berth is right there for the taking every season for every team. It's not as sexy as the run of division titles in the early 2000s but it still gets the job done if you win that wildcard game.
  5. The Twins have a starting 9 mostly in place though I admit if Dozier can bring back good pitching, you do it. There's just so much more that needs to be done with this organization's approach to pitching before any hypothetical Dozier trade occurs. I assume most people who want a Dozier trade also feel that way but maybe not.
  6. I suppose in an abstract, existential way, a person could be satisfied with something they posted?
  7. You can borrow my likes as I don't think I'll be around for this one. Just let me know. 'Like' this post to confirm.
  8. Lineups are up. I'm glad to see an old friend back in center right away tonight. I think Buxton will win gold gloves, and if he learns to hit along the way, all the better.
  9. I get it. Dozier led this team to a 100-loss season. I think that's a little too simplistic. If the goal is to put the best combination of the best players on the field, Dozier needs to stay. If all he becomes as tobi said is a $15-20 million dollar home run hitter for a few more years, I think the Twins should hold on to that.
  10. 'Veteran presence' has become a punch line but for Dozier I think it is a real asset. Maybe Suzuki but he's on his way out. Hughes Perkins Plouffe not so much--those guys best years are behind them imo. Dozier on the other hand I feel has a lot of production left. Is the new MO to just trade our best players every year we fall out of contention?
  11. This is the view from 35,000 feet, and it is certainly valid. But looking at Dozier, I don't see any reason he shouldn't continue hitting home runs for years. Look at the Blue Jays guys. Donaldson, Batista, and Encarnacion are all older than Dozier and continue to mash year after year (Batista having a down year). If that is the "plateau" Dozier is entering... That said, trading Dozier for the right MLB starter is definitely a good debate. I just don't think you should. Santana is a different story. He is having one of his best seasons but he is the only thing we got until these younger guys start showing something. I don't know.
  12. Left-handed batters have 16 plate appearances against O'Rourke this season, with 0 hits. That would be something to build on going forward. I don't know if the "loogy" is still a thing or not, or ever was, but I sense that Molitor and Allen don't really believe in the value of that stuff even if it was. Edit that maybe those 16 PA were against Schafer types or there were some screaming line drives. I don't know. Just looked at the surface: 16 PA, 0-12, 2/5 BB/K
  13. The team is not that far away, in my opinion. The talent is there, they just need to unlock it.
  14. If the Twins keep Dozier and lose for several more seasons, or barely miss the postseason again, it won't be because they didn't trade Dozier. Dozier is a home run hitter and will continue to be a home run hitter for several more seasons.
  15. I would also take an honest look at the media people that support this organization. I would save Provus and Gladden, who are very good at their jobs, but fire most others who broadcast radio or television, including Bremer and Bert. I would end press privileges for the LaValle E Neal types.
  16. Mollie seemed a very good roving instructor for this organization. Lots of guys (even guys you have heard of!) praised him for things he helped them with. It would be fantastic if we could maneuver him back into a role like that again. I thought he would be a good manager but it hasn't turned out that way. Gladly his thoughtfulness, intelligence and sense of humor haven't left him yet.
  17. I like what that home plate ump did, letting Francona speak his mind without getting back in his face. #silverlinings
  18. Rosario-Buxton-Kepler will be an above average defensive outfield sooner rather than later. In time they could be better than many people right now think.
  19. we see what you did there, ashberyjhon
  20. Uff da this would be a nail biting inning if the game meant anything.
  21. Pretty sad for a team in first place.
