  1. Two things: He's DH-ing tonight, and he's kind of cleaned up his defense anyway (at least so far he has, knock on wood, fingers crossed, etc)
  2. Except for right field, the line up makes sense tonight. I bet the Twins win. /haiku
  3. ... said Mike Yeo, after game one?
  4. He needs to follow the pitch deeper into the strike zone. That is the golden rule in any sport. Keep your eye on the ball. He should get in lots of good live BP this week with the night games to correct this.
  5. I'm new to this..There's a consolation bracket in the NHL playoffs, right? *and by consolation, I do mean consolation
  6. Poppen flashed a gaudy pitching line Friday night in a loss. Cedar Rapids fell to Wisconsin 3-2 last night in ten innings, all the runs being accounted for on tenth inning home runs. The game was scoreless after nine. Poppen's line: 7.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 walk, 8 strikeoutsPoppen was removed with two outs and a runner on second in the eighth. According to MiLB, Poppen surrendered a single in the first and second innings. He walked the leadoff batter in the eighth. The only base runner to reach between the 2nd and 8th innings was on a throwing error by Poppen himself. Poppen was removed at the 102 pitch mark.
  7. Good thoughts, but I feel like you are closer to our side than you realize. If Buxton needs to push through his struggles in MLB then Berrios should too. They play on different sides of the ball but as far as the maturing process, I don't see how it's that much different.
  8. I don't remember Molly saying anything about "things Berrios needs to work on," it was about getting stretched out. Heck, we all have things we need to work on.
  9. Three deer walk out of the woods. The female deer says, "I'll never do that for two bucks again."
  10. I know virtually nothing about the guy, so I am relying on you. You are welcomed to provide data or insight on Del Rosario on his prospect thread. However, my understanding is that those threads are meant to report and track progress and err on the side of being supportive.
  11. veteran guile can't put a price tag on it
  12. So, what do I do to follow the game? Why, pull up MLB's Gameday, of course.
  13. As a team, Twins pitchers aren't quite leading MLB in hitting batters, but they are high on the list. I wonder if it has anything to do with learning to "pitch inside." Worth watching.
  14. I was not aware of the rest of the inning. Pretty awful. You can't hit a guy ahead 1-2.
  15. Del Rosario is 21! I was following the play log as it was going on, and after a killer start Del Rosario pretty clearly began to falter suddenly. After he let in a run on a bases loaded walk, he was removed. The reliever pitched out of a stressful inning, Del Rosario maintains his low ERA, and the team won the game, so win-win for everyone. jmo
  16. Somebody in the game thread said the pitch was low, and that Romine is a low ball hitter. Based on that I think it was a terrible pitch.
  17. On second thought, I would not like a closer like that
  18. Del Rosario's second game pitching line: 4.2 IP, 3 hits, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 SOCedar Rapids defeated Kane County 4-1 this afternoon, but it was an interesting outing for Del Rosario. The morning started out well (travel day; first pitch 11:00 AM). Del Rosario retired the first four batters on swinging strikeouts. The first batter actually reached on a strikeout- wild pitch, but was then thrown out stealing by Rortvedt. The second and third innings went 1-2-3, and the next Kane County guy didn't reach base until two outs in the fourth, when del Rosario surrendered a hit, then a walk, but retired the next batter without a run scoring. Then came the fifth. According to the MiLB game log, Del Rosario's fifth inning read like this: line drive single, pop out, hit batsman, line drive single, swinging strikeout, and base on balls (forcing home a run). Del Rosario was pulled after that, and Kernels relievers Vasquez and Davis held Kane County scoreless for the final 4.1 innings.
  19. It's not that far-fetched. Cody Allen with Cleveland is strictly a fastball-curveball guy. Those are literally the only two pitches he throws. Over time, Duffey might be able to ramp his fastball up to 94-95 in the bullpen.
  20. I've said this only half-jokingly: I think the Twins should try Gibson as closer / late inning guy.
