  1. I. am. a. Tigers. fan. The. Twins. bullpen. is. terrible. I. am. not. jinxing. the. Tigers. chances. http://memeguy.com/photos/images/the-finals-of-the-dance-competition-at-the-g-summit-were-today-david-cameron-busts-out-his-best-moo--15732.gif
  2. Winning is nice, but actually, game threads are better when they lose *ducks, runs
  3. we used to own the 7th Tonight we moved it up to the 6th Hope that's ok
  4. I was hoping he would hit .479 all season, but I'll take the groundout this time
  5. I know lineup construction isn't supposed to matter much, but just for laughs let's put Polanco back at the top again tomorrow.
  6. I was just about to come on and type something about being impressed with Santiago, then someone hit a baseball 400 miles off him
  7. Left shoulder no less. First DL trip in his career. Except for the Giants not winning his games, he was off to another typical Mad Bum start.
  8. Oh, those pesky 11 AM starts. Del Rosario's turn in the rotation came up again this morning, as Cedar Rapids finished up a road series in Peoria before boarding the bus home. The Kernels lost 15-3. Del Rosario's previous start was also an 11 AM start. Del Rosario's line today: 2 IP, 8 hits, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO He faced 16 batters, threw 56 pitches, his GB:FB ratio was 0:5. He allowed three runs in the first, two in the second (leaving the bases loaded), and did not come out to pitch the third. Del Rosario's next start is scheduled for Monday night in Cedar Rapids, first pitch at 6:35 PM (edit: assuming a five man rotation).
  9. Beeker's second start was Monday night, April 17. Cedar Rapids defeated Peoria 8-2, tallying single runs in six of the first eight innings before Aaron Whitefield capped the scoring with a two-run home run in the ninth. Beeker's line: 7.2 IP, 7 hits, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO Beeker threw 98 pitches, 72 strikes, 6:5 GB:FB, facing 30 batters. The nine strikeouts was a surprise, and many of them came in the later innings. The play by play on MiLB doesn't indicate that Beeker was ever in much trouble (never had a bases loaded, for example).
  10. Where I disagree is I think those are the larger issues, and the mechanics can get ironed out with repetition as long as he steps in the batter's box with a clear mind and tracks each pitch. The cardinal rule in stickball sports is to keep your eye on the ball. See also: Max Kepler, fly ball, first inning. Standing tall will aid technique but it's also a state of mind. I think the lean exists and it indicates Buxton is worried about the sweeping breaking ball out of the zone that he shouldn't be swinging at anyway. Not swinging and missing on any pitches last night is a good sign.
  11. Yeah with two runners on, a home run in that spot (unlikely, but still) puts the Twins within two, with the heart of the order coming up in the 9th.
  12. Hey guys, did you know the Twins are going to Pitch Inside™ more this season?
  13. A home run last inning woulda been good, too
  14. getting caught up... Buxton bunting with two on, two out is stunningly, stunningly poor judgment. With night games finally, Buxton should be having full, vigorous rounds of live BP this week. This is what they came up with?
  15. Knowing I'm picking a fight with a superior opponent, I will dispute a few things nonetheless. First of all, that seems like an overly simplistic explanation for what ails Buxton -- that he's trying to pull the ball. As Reynolds said, Buxton is not tracking the ball. Reynolds may have cherry picked, but Buxton has been so inconsistent that anyone could cherry pick just about anything at this point. From what we know about Buxton as a good human being, I think you are spot on that he is willing to take advice from anyone. Too many people trying to get between his ears. I don't dispute the studies, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a few of the elitist of the elite (not in those study samples) might be able to follow the ball right up to the bat. For example look at this slow mo swing of Miguel Cabrera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McVrac2lYgI&list=PLpjKqFdNPT13ldH6nvKt85UpsCOrV37L6 Whatever mechanical fixes Buxton makes, he will need to follow the ball all the way in (or as far in as possible) before his swing and coordination take over. As long as he consistently keeps his head in longer, I think he will break out of this. I think Reynolds had it right that that is the crux of it.
  16. Berrios looks to be stretched out and available for any of 2 or 3 rotation spots now.
  17. In the few, few innings of Grossman in right field so far, he has looked competent. A big reversal from how poorly he played in left field last season. And he can hit, no question.
  18. I'll see your 50 and raise you 250.
