  1. One more reliable starting pitcher would do wonders for this team. I would trade for one. Based on Levine's comments, however, it appears the Twins are hoping that someone emerges from the Mejia, Gibson, or Santiago group. The fans are also held hostage hoping that one of those guys works.
  2. It's a realistic conclusion, but if they trade Santana this year, where will the pitching come from next year? It's imperative to capitalize on Santana and Berrios both pitching like aces this season. If the Twins can get halfway reliable starting pitching from the 3-5 guys they can stay in it until the final week, and also arrange the rotation so that Berrios or Santana can be in line for a potential WC game start.
  3. Every team is a contender except the Twins, who are always pretenders. It's an inferiority thing with Minnesota sports fans. More seriously, the Twins had a surprising, sustained run of success in the previous decade, which is setting up (IMO) unreasonable expectations that such a run of success can easily be matched again. Nothing is ever guaranteed, however. The irony is that those dominant regular season Twins teams of the 2000s failed spectacularly when they played the post-season games.
  4. Indeed we do, and not only that, we have two excellent starting pitchers that could take us further than people expect if we do get there
  5. if ? There is hope for the game threaders yet
  6. At least we learned tonight that Grossman can score from third base on a two out double off the monster, lol, I kill me
  7. This loss would be easier to take if half our other losses weren't of the 18-3 variety* *this game ain't over yet!
  8. Over/under on Sano check swings in the home run derby: 2.5
  9. Trade Sano. Who's with me? edit: posted before he struck out
  10. Oh by the by, Mauer made an outstanding defensive play in the first inning but resulted in a base hit
  11. Hey David HK: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jan/28/doctor-fights-shark-stitches-up-leg
  12. Just for you (and the other poster with the tuba avatar): http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tehm9ISJfyU/VHMmSEfVb2I/AAAAAAAABkQ/44XeqNDKhh8/s1600/lukisan%2Bsurealis.jpg
  13. As this is the game thread and children might be reading, I must ask you to mind your line breaks
  14. Del Rosario started for the Kernels earlier this afternoon, June 28, in a 5-2 loss to Burlington. The Bees scored all their runs in a 5-run third inning. 5.1 IP, 3 hits, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO Del Rosario walked three batters in the third, eventually surrendering a 3-run home run that inning. Otherwise, Del Rosario retired the side in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th innings, before running into trouble again in the 6th. Del Rosario was at 76 pitches when he was lifted.
  15. I can't argue with your thinking, but maybe it's a little too "big picture" for the situation at hand. In the link you referenced earlier, Breslow acknowledges that results matter. My interpretation: Breslow might be a thoughtful and smart pitcher, or Belisle might keep himself in fantastic shape, but the reality is that an aversion to those players will develop if they are not helping the team win or cannot do something exceptional from time to time. The intangibles they provide for the team will be ignored.
  16. I am getting the impression that the regular Twins Daily posters are giving this more thought than the Twins are themselves.
  17. Good catch on the Breslow platoon split this season. However, he has no good platoon splits in any recent seasons prior to his signing this winter. Molitor rightly trusts Rogers and Boshers more. So, we seem to disagree on the value of Breslow's intangible strengths.
  18. Given the waiver wire carousel, it's quite stunning how Breslow and Belisle have survived this long when they provide essentially nothing better than anyone else who has come and gone. Any idea why that is?
  19. Rest assured, Falvey and Levine are monitoring the situation
  20. He also chews gum in a confident way, and dated a hot girl once.
  21. Oh well. We'll get 'em tomorrow night, with Tepesch or Wilk on the mound or whoever
