    It's great to discover new statistics and new ideas. Thank you! It will be interesting to see what this stat tells us. Santana threw what seemed to be a quality slider to Aaron Judge in the 1st inning of the wild card game, Judge was fooled by it, lunged and swung at it anyway, and the ball landed softly and safely in shallow center for a hit.

    That is a very fair opinion, and I think chances are good the Twins do sign Darvish (Cobb would be my next pref)

    I am not high on Mejia, but I guess I am higher on Musgrove than others. I think Pittsburgh has Musgrove penned into a rotation spot for 2018. Considering Pittsburgh was highly motivated to move Cole ASAP, it was not an awful deal, even though some baseball people are calling it that. I think the Twins could have worked something out close to Gordon/Grante/Jay, if not those specific pieces, something close. The Twins need to sign Darvish so that their complete uninterested in making a deal for Cole does not leave a bad taste in my mouth

    Houston goes from a 100-loss team to World Series champion able to trade away decent young players they didn't even need, all in a span of 4-5 seasons. Hopefully in a couple years the Twins will be in the same position.

    I'm not a prospect guy, but I don't think Kepler belongs in this comparison. I would guess Gordon and Moran might be a wash (premium position vs. intriguing bat), and Musgrove approximately one of our better two AA starters. Or as reported in December: Gordon, Granite and Jay

    Reed and Darvish share that agency - very interesting. This offseason is unfolding like a bad, slow, poorly written novel but with some interesting stuff at the end. MLBTR just quoted Luhnow/Astros as being "very happy" with their current roster: in other words, not interested in Darvish (my interpretation). Angels have not been linked to Darvish at all. Dodgers aren't interested. Good cases have been made why he's not returning to Texas or going to New York. Gotta be down to the Twins or Cubs.

    Good points being made in this thread. It's quite possible that early extensions for top players will not be as cheap as they were in yesteryear, if they continue to exist at all. If the FO can get one done, great. If it means paying Buxton near-market a couple years from now, so be it.

    If the Twins offer Darvish one year for $40 million, Darvish might counter with 2 years for $80 million, or 3/120.
