  1. At this point, I'd try to sign Cobb. Lynn can pitch but is kind of an odd duck and not sure he'd fit in here. All the manufactured drama surrounding Darvish is a red flag for me. Berrios is a bona fide ace in the making, anyway.
  2. I went to TwinsFest by myself a couple years ago. It was at Target Field and it was fun. It seems really weird that the Twins are considering moving TwinsFest to US Bank Stadium.
  3. Another list might make our trade offers for Archer look reasonable, however.
  4. I feel there's a fairy tale quality to Case's season, especially with the coordinator leaving, unless maybe the QB coach is promoted there could be some continuity. But Keenum has a gunslinger quality that I love that is lacking in Bridgewater and Bradford. Should be interesting. Not that I care, at the moment.
  5. Out of curiosity, did any of the national guys have Polanco sticking at short?
  6. True, but as long as they've done their work in AA, I don't personally believe pitchers need a whole lot of time in AAA before making their debuts. If and when Gonsalves falters he can be optioned. In any case, Duffey or Mejia would be much preferable than either Gonsalves or Miley as fifth starters. (assuming Berrios, Santana, Gibson, and trade/free agent are the top four)
  7. I've got it the other way around than you. The way to do it IMO is to sign the broken vet to the minor league deal and let Gonsalves or Romero start the season in the big league rotation. Then if the young guy falters you option the young guy and add Miley to the roster for a few starts. If the young guy doesn't falter then that's a good thing.
  8. Rich get richer!
  9. I give Moya that opportunity
  10. No I agree. I just thought Keenum was struggling too much, and getting the surer points would be a reset, of sorts.
  11. You are right, but they need a FG at some point not to mention multiple more touchdowns FG was the best call IMO
  12. Maybe instead of focusing on flaws from the Saints game, they could have looked ahead to what Philly does. For example, Ertz.
  13. Remember they started 5-0 last year and when they lost ther first game there was the rumor Zimmer attacked the players for losing
  14. After that miracle finish last week, Zimmer came right out and stressed to the team all the mistakes they made in that game. That kind of felt like the stuffed animal moment to me.
  15. Absolutely gutless However, NFL is a game of halves, see last week and earlier today.
  16. Totally agree. Seems like the Twins need to bridge that gap between Gordon and Lewis while keeping Lewis. Like the other poster said, taking Span and his salary for 2018 as a 4/5 OF is an interesting idea.
  17. It doesn't make sense that the FO would want to trade Lewis as he's on the verge of becoming an elite prospect. Yet the Twins have been in continuing discussions about Archer. So something is off, either with one of those players or with the reporting of it or with us who are discussing it.
  18. The point is not the Rule 5, the point is that there is not room for everyone. Gordon and Lewis cannot both be the shortstop of the future.
  19. The Twins have a productive, young core of a lineup. Gordon will arrive maybe this year, but they really don't need any position players to graduate for a few more years. Rooker or Lewis aren't going anywhere.
  20. That is a nice comparison. Unfortunately, Quintana is probably (well, is ) the better pitcher, though not necessarily by much, and Quintana also fetched a top prospect. However, I think Gonsalves or Romero are easily better bets than Cease, who was the only other pitcher involved in that deal. Cease has yet to reach AA ball. To close the rest of the value gap, maybe you offer to address their present needs -- maybe the Rays like Vargas or Garver, or would take a chance on a relief pitcher like Chargois. Maybe the Twins then ask for a piece in return. Leaving Lewis out of the deal, could you see a fair offer for Archer that consists of: Gordon, Gonsalves or Romero, plus another MLB-ready piece or lower minors pitcher?
  21. If you are referring to the "gets too cold there" unattributed quote, I agree absolutely.
  22. There's another Darvish twitter exchange that I'm not ready to file under "has a home in Texas." Look, I thought the Twins had and still have a decent shot at him, but absent any other insight, it looks to me like he's falling back in love with Texas.
  23. So moving Duffey to the rotation opens a bullpen spot for idk Gibson? Setting the opening day rotation as of now, to: 1. E Santana 2. Berrios 3. Duffey 4. Jim Kaat? 5. ???
