  1. Two posts, regrettably coming one after the other ...
  2. Feels very similar to how the Twins used Reed last spring. Every important situation, Reed was in.
  3. What song was the organist playing?
  4. How about that last one. Does that one meet with the critics’ approval?
  5. Thanks for the updates. Why is scoring so low there this year?
  6. A win is a win is a win. Let’s hope this is the game Cruz needed to get his timing back.
  7. What we saw Wednesday is why I am opposed to the 3 batter minimum rule. I wasn’t necessarily opposed to bringing in Vasquez (as said above, anyone in the bullpen should be able to get outs), but after a couple of pitches it was apparent that Vasquez had the baseball equivalent of “happy feet” and didn’t belong in the game. In hindsight I like the idea of a double switch and starting the inning with Perez. But can’t really argue with leaving in Odorizzi either. Turned into an entertaining inning!
  8. Truth is, despite the two World Series, the Dome never really cared about the Twins or baseball. And especially the Vikings—wide left anyone? no, the Dome did not care about sports at all, makes me think it came here on false pretenses. Truth is, all the Dome ever really cared about was rock concerts, parties, and drugs.
  9. Agree with most of this. Just a nitpick— there was no reason Baldelli couldn’t use Cruz. Before one of the Mets games in an interview with Provus, Baldelli said Cruz played outfield in spring training, made some good plays, and that he (Baldelli) “wouldn’t hesitate” to put Cruz in the outfield in this series. Yet it didn’t happen. Maybe that’s just typical manager doublespeak, but still. They did ok without him after all. Also, that final at bat last night would have been perfect for using Cruz. If Cruz gets on base, Kepler is the tying run.
  10. One thing Baldelli said was yes he was going to pinch hit for Odorizzi after the fourth, but the pitcher spot didn’t come up. But they could have done a double switch with Schoop and Gonzales leading off the next inning in the pitcher spot. I watched the game. I haven’t been as disappointed in a starting pitcher as last night.
  11. You bat Cruz there. You don’t bat him, just because he isn’t the tying run? You’re not going to be able to bat Cruz for Kepler or anyone else once the top of the lineup rolls around. It makes no sense to bat Adrianza there instead of Cruz, unless you’re afraid of Cruz playing in the field? Which means you rallied? Do not know the rationale there. But the game was lost long before that.
  12. One way to remedy that is to get him an at bat last night?
  13. Cruz is better than Adrianza, according to some
  14. Then let me buy you a drink anyway!!
  15. Aha, that helps explain it. A “wind blowing in” situation calls for fastballs, as the breaking balls don’t have as much action as the wind carries them to the plate faster.
  16. I am detecting sarcasm, but I will give you a straight answer. On second thought no I won’t. Message me private and we’ll arrange to meet up at a bar and play “real time vs. second-guess” bingo during a game sometime.
  17. To answer an earlier question. I don’t think there is anything a catcher can do there. Particularly with the new mound visit rules. These guys’ heads were obviously not in the game.
  18. I don’t know what schedule Kohl Stewart is on, but he might have been a better option here tonight. Or Perez. I’m surprised they were not piggybacking Perez on Odorizzi, actually.
  19. Thats what I was thinking And that’s a good thing!
  20. At least Cruz will get to bat tonight! #silverlinings
  21. For the record, the Blue Jays had a horrible performance like this against the Twins in 2014. But this was baaaaaad...
  22. Where is Chase DeJonge when you need him
  23. Vazquez makes Odorizzi look like pinpoint accuracy.
