    Didn't see your original post. Loved Seth's challenge but didn't make it too far into the thread. Will maybe circle back to it. As far as an analytics staff, I would bet that a couple of bright guys with a good working relationship and some creative ideas will trump an army of fresh MBA's taking instruction from someone still convinced of the methods that worked for them in the past. I don't know. Not sure how those things work on the inside. StatCast will be a game changer. Not sure how scouts are evolving. Not sure what the Cubbies were thinking by putting Schwarber in the outfield My gut tells me the Twins have a lot of very good people who are good at jobs, if not the jobs they are presently assigned to perform. Around the league, there are bound to be enough teams at any time who are doing it right, as you described above, that a team like the Twins will always be playing catch-up no matter how good their players are.

    Though I was opposed to the Ervin Santana signing and wasn't thrilled with his suspension, at this point I would like to see him stick around. It seems like I saw Berrios and Santana sitting in the dugout together a lot. Perhaps discussing pitching or just making it in MLB, though it's hard to know for sure. Isn't this the sort of mentorship or veteran leadership the Twins claim to value so much? So, I would keep Santana, and also Dozier. Dozier is struggling but my gut says keep him. All the other so called veterans can be released for a song and the team would be immediately improved, regardless of return. Like others say, we might need to throw in a prospect.

    I understand your thinking, but sending Sano to AAA is the wrong answer in my book. I would say Sano is extremely driven but is in a hopeless situation. Out of the blue, he was told in the offseason he would be playing a different position. Why should Sano give up a chunk of his offseason to learn outfield when in the past, guys were just sent to the outfield after shagging some fly balls? (Bartlett, Escobar, Collabello, etc etc) Also, Bruno does not seem to be a good communicator with the Spanish speaking guys. Hasty demotions of young guys like Berrios and Polanco. Then there are the players of the most seniority getting the most preferential treatment (that's how I see it, anyway). Anyway, it's just a bad atmosphere and to imply that Sano is somehow to blame by demoting him would be a huge, huge mistake.
