    Molitor has completely lost his ability to make good judgment. "Don't take the extra base." Give me a break. Somebody said it. If that had been Dozier or Mauer they would have been praised. As for your statement: "If the Twins are going to begin the transition to a roster of new young players, and take some lumps in the process, how about they at least instill a culture of aggressiveness while doing it." I really wonder if they want to make that transition. The Twins organization seems more interested in having quiet professionals and "quality guys" around, instead of guys who can win baseball games. Lots of people have joked about that the past few years but nothing is happening to disprove it.

    Seth, what have you seen from Polanco that makes you believe he shouldn't be playing full time on the MLB team? And, is this his last option year?

    Good catching me on that. Maybe he doesn't have a documented history but that is certainly my impression of him from following ballgames since he got here. I want pitchers who want to take the ball, or take the post, as Ryan likes to say in interviews. I think the OP made a pretty strong case that this is a trend with Hughes and that it's on the Twins to determine how he can help us win games. Class Act for turning down the bonus. If sacrificing that 1/3 inning was part of the consideration for the Twins offering him that big extension, I'd say he came out ahead.

    I heard that Hughes told the coaches he was getting a little fatigued and that they should keep an eye on him. Getting fatigued after 6 innings and 70 pitches is worrisome no matter how you slice it. Maybe just one night, maybe not. He also has a history of not wanting to stay in games, which would be another concern.

    Maybe this is just groupthink. Plus, if Polanco can't stick at short, then why is he around at all. It will be the Plouffe/Sano situation all over again, since Dozier's got second locked up and Escobar and Nunez can also fill in there. Polanco can play short until the fans see that he can't--that's the position I'm taking Polanco had a half dozen chances tonight and did fine. One of them was a highlight reel play.

    Seth, I think MLB would have to change their rules about # of fielders allowed on the field to accommodate all the players you want to play. Polanco did not need to be demoted to play full time, in my opinion. He could just as easily have been moved around here with the Twins and played everyday, even while keeping Numez's bat in the lineup while Escobar was on the DL. And in all his callups the past few years Polanco has not really looked overmatched at the plate. We missed a nice opportunity to get him in the line up every day to see what he could do.

    I remember a game when I was a tyke and there was a manual scoreboard but only had numbers 0-9. Well one team scored an ungodly number of runs in the first inning, and then a couple innings later the game was in the 30s, and one of the rows just had 999's across it even though most of the runs were in one inning. Except they probably ran out of 9's too. My memory is slightly imperfect. This has been your "Good Times, Good Times" moment
