  1. It would seem a little desperate at this point to overpay in a trade, i.e., give up Kepler
  2. The Twins can still salvage their rotation woes. The whole Darvish thing feels like a con. 5/126 would have been a fair offer. Instead he signs for the same money but an additional year. How serious were they about signing him? I vote Cobb at 4/64 or a trade, but Orodizzi doesn't do mch for me; Archer does, but I'd really like to keep Kepler at this late point in the offseason with players reporting next week (or maybe already there)
  3. I'm thinking a Napoli contract is valued at one year, mid single digits, and I wonder if the Twins are prepared to offer that sixth year to Darvish. Getting him for five years would seem almost too good to be true.
  4. oh I am with you on that. But if that's the little extra it will take, you gotta do it.
  5. I think Duffey is a lock to start the season in the rotation now. He might surprise like he did in 2015.
  6. Boring offseason? Speak for yourself! Check this out!
  7. I always liked Vladimir Guerrero because he reminded me of Kirby Puckett - never saw a pitch he didn't like. Would swing at anything and hit it, too.
  8. Performance enhancing, they say?
  9. I know what you mean. I was there a couple years ago and it was hard moving around in some places even just by myself. But I don't see an alternative. Maybe a couple other places could work and they could get a few more people in, but then it kind of loses its magic. It is what it is.
  10. Darvish's twitter feed has gone silent again -- meaning absolutely nothing.
  11. At this point, I'd try to sign Cobb. Lynn can pitch but is kind of an odd duck and not sure he'd fit in here. All the manufactured drama surrounding Darvish is a red flag for me. Berrios is a bona fide ace in the making, anyway.
  12. True, but as long as they've done their work in AA, I don't personally believe pitchers need a whole lot of time in AAA before making their debuts. If and when Gonsalves falters he can be optioned. In any case, Duffey or Mejia would be much preferable than either Gonsalves or Miley as fifth starters. (assuming Berrios, Santana, Gibson, and trade/free agent are the top four)
  13. I've got it the other way around than you. The way to do it IMO is to sign the broken vet to the minor league deal and let Gonsalves or Romero start the season in the big league rotation. Then if the young guy falters you option the young guy and add Miley to the roster for a few starts. If the young guy doesn't falter then that's a good thing.
  14. If you are referring to the "gets too cold there" unattributed quote, I agree absolutely.
  15. There's another Darvish twitter exchange that I'm not ready to file under "has a home in Texas." Look, I thought the Twins had and still have a decent shot at him, but absent any other insight, it looks to me like he's falling back in love with Texas.
  16. So moving Duffey to the rotation opens a bullpen spot for idk Gibson? Setting the opening day rotation as of now, to: 1. E Santana 2. Berrios 3. Duffey 4. Jim Kaat? 5. ???
  17. Levine should brush up on his Japanese, just in case.
  18. more specifically, Darvish tweeting out a pic of himself in Texas having dinner with Texas Rangers personnel?
