    On the contrary, sports is inherently unpredictable, and games ahead or games behind in the standings is maybe the only number that matters. They were 7 games back when they traded Escobar. Unlikely, but doable!

    I think the running analogy falls flat. It was dire, mostly because they were giving away too many games. I would have liked to see if they could rally. "When the going gets tough", and all that.

    Now the front office is telling LaVelle they tried to extend Escobar. Well, maybe. I will bet on that being pure damage control instead.

    I wasn't talking about trade return or "expecting/hoping" to get back any prospects. I was asking for clarification that the short term pipeline was robust, which I sort of read as "upper minors is already stacked," which I disagree with.

    At this point it's fence straddling if they do not go whole hog and trade Dozier, Morrison, Rodney and Lynn.

    No one against selling was ignoring that, not any more than your side is ignoring the sweep in Toronto, win in Boston, and the upcoming games against Cleveland. Right?

    You should rethink which side that angst is coming from. The original poster acknowledged that the players have failed to this point. But, there were signs, like last year, that the players were starting to turn it around. The original poster wanted the front office to let the season play out. I agreed completely. That's basically it.

    I am sympathetic to this, somewhat; the story of KC and Houston was losing 100 games a year in order to get high draft picks. But we already have those top picks. Royce Lewis, Rooker, and Larnach (or Kirilloff), are already in the organization. We don't need to "re-blow it up." I don't see how retaining Escobar would have interfered with their development.

    I guess we just see a huge difference between acclimating and contributing to wins. The only position player who I see contributing next year would be Rooker.

    Well, the same front office selling Escobar for lottery tickets is the same front office who brought us Lynn, Morrison, Rodney, who can't close out a one run game, Duke and Reed, who have been ok at times but overall average, and Odorizzi, who has been average though I do like Odorizzi. You can say in other threads that all of those FA signings were "smart" signings, but that doesn't make it so. Not everyone was on board or happy about the offseason.

    Also, I love Dozier, but I just think Father Time is not being kind to him. We see how Kipnis and others of his type are not aging well. At this point I hope the front office trades Dozier to a winner. Get whatever you can get. Might as well complete the 2018 sell off. Why go half way on that, too? I am in complete agreement with the original post. I want to see a six month pennant race in 2019.

    I believe in Kepler, still believe in Buxton, have always believed in Gibson, but the other name you are looking for is Eduardo Escobar. See what I mean?

    Record and standings don't lie, except for when they do. You see, if I state that this Front Office inherited an 85-win team from 2017 and has turned it into a sell-off in 2018, then I'm told that they weren't as good as their record in 2017. So, no, that is just your opinion.
