    They might want more than one decent relief pitcher in next seasons bullpen. Players want three things - wins, playing time and money. The order depends on the individual.

    I don’t understand this. They seem very, very similar in decision making. Do you just like beards?

    I don’t pay much attention to football.

    I have no issue if they want to change out underperforming players like Larnach or Rogers with AAA players like Ramirez, Raya or Orze. I think it is dumb to sit your best players to play your worst ones just because your worst players are younger.

    If they want to have any chance of bringing Minter back as a free agent they should let him play. If they want Taj Bradley to sign an extension, they should probably try to win the games he pitches by using their best players.

    So the only reason to use Minter is to try to win baseball games. I think it is a good to set expectations for young players that the team is trying to win baseball games.

    Ryan Jeffers is a veteran with no future with the team. Should they sit him for the rest of the season and play Alex Jackson?

    The bench is Gonzalez, Ross, Jackson, Caratini, and Kreidler. Play Josh Bell. The players tend to get cranky when management tries to throw games.

    You want Ben Ross to DH? I suppose they could decide to tank to improve draft position. Maybe they can sit Taj Bradley and bring up Aaron Rozek. Bring up Marco Raya to play instead of Gomez.

    I don’t see any reason NOT to play Bell. He’s performing and he’s not blocking any kids.

    Martin is very likely to make next season’s roster. He is still making minimum wage.

    Gonzalez has had an awful season in AAA. I don’t know why he was promoted. He needs reps and he’s not ready to face major league pitching.

    I didn’t think he was anything special. I still don’t, though he exceeded my expectations. The team hasn’t quit on him, which is a point in his favor.

    I expect Gonzalez to go down for Martin in a few days. They have carried Jackson this long, doubt they cut him now. Larnach has one option remaining and I think he is still less than 5 years service time. They might as well burn it while it still exists. The other player on his last option year is Kreidler. I would be fine sending him to AAA.

    Send Ross back to the minors and bring up Rodriguez like they should have done a week ago.

    That’s just one move though - bench Larnach and play Rodriguez. All the other players with a future are playing every day. Larnach has a .637 OPS in the 2nd half so a benching is justified.

    Their margin for error is gone. They need to go 14-2 to make the playoffs. That is a level of performance they have rarely matched throughout their entire franchise history. 90% of the season is complete. They should be eliminated by the end of the next homestand. 76 wins is their mean end result with a 2 win standard deviation.

    I doubt having more complicated transaction rules will help this front office figure out how to put a winning team on the field.

    They have a 2% chance at the final wild card spot.

    I am going to guess Fedko got a minimum contract offer from several clubs and picked the Pirates.

    You didn’t understand me. Kreidler had 113 PA in St Paul with a 889 OPS. Ross had 418 PA with a 810 OPS. Gonzalez has 444 PA with a really bad 741 OPS. I don’t understand why either is on the MLB roster. I don’t understand why the Twins want to fill the bench with bad players who they refuse to play under any circumstance.
