  1. Granite isn't so young or well regarded that he couldn't be a 4th outfielder. But he's also not so good you rearrange your line-up let alone roster for. In my opinion anyway. I doubt he belongs more than Adrianza and Vargas. And he's not in the same level as our current 4 outfielders. He can wait, or we can trade him if another team thinks he's legit. Who fetches more, Grossman or granite? Of course, I've been saying that Kepler is one of a couple guys on the team capable of returning an ace. That window could be shutting already as well... But if it meant getting an ace, ruling with granite is a risk I'd take. I find it unlikely that he's better than what we have.
  2. This can also create poor habits. Seeing the ball longer is good. But at the expense of bat speed, trajectory, aggression and confidence? Front for hitting also often involves moving the bread and arms forward which doesn't necessarily give you more time. And when your bat slows, you have even less time. I believe this is what happened to Dansan, although accounts on this one vary. Bottom line, if you're approach as a hitter is to not strike out (read: make better contact) you will never be an adequate major leaguer. #bringbackthelegkick
  3. Regardless, he's fast at baseball. Now go back to the leg kick so we can see that speed rounding first instead of back to the dugout.
  4. Save a run for... 10...9...8...
  5. Holy wow, nice effort to save a run by our outfield.
  6. To be clear, I'd just send him back next time we need a spot. The spot is more important than the player or player we'd have to trade, imo. The player you referenced doesn't sound that different from Melo actually..
  7. What would it take to get Haley's rights? If we said, "look, he's either going to the 60 day, and you get nothing, or you get Melo" (or wim or palka) wouldn't they accept and we option? What do they think they're going to get?
  8. All are. Doesn't mean it's not a useful tool! Thanks for posting.
  9. Cool article. Wish we could see the fps for each player in the list to see what sort of gaps there are. Interesting that Dozier is so low despite his success running.
  10. That's why the bunt last inning is a bad play at that stage: 2 runs was not likely to win anyway. Maybe if it were the 9th. Play for more runs at that point. Especially since we've all seen Polanco bunt, or try to...
  11. Not arguing for it, included him in a list of soft tossers preferably DFA'd in a 1/4 joking tone. I'm pretty done with Breslow as well. I think he could be offered assignment or DL and he'd take either over FA.
  12. I'm glad we had Buddy instead of Melo today at least. Roster flexibility is important. We don't lose much of Boshers goes down. If we get rid of him and bring up xxxxxxxx, and they get hurt, we're borrowing and borrowing from our ranks and staining each lower level as well. And... most mediocre prospects will never be mediocre major leaguers.
  13. "I mean the Indians were just swept at home by a team that lost 100+ games last year. So they're sellers right? I mean this last week was fun, and optimism is really cute and all, but the Twins just proved how far away the Indians really are, 7th game of the world series with a late lead not withstanding..." - Indians Daily if it were Twins Daily.
  14. Really great write up. It's amazing that that game 40 years ago was also for first place. Probably nor breaking any records today, but I'd settle for a nice win in exchange for not fading to fourth by season's end.
  15. Wow, Target Field... you are awful... can we please replant the spruce trees in center field and ends the curse? Please?
  16. No joke, if Giminez can pile up some innings this year, he's a pretty valuable back up catcher.
  17. Turley maybe? At least as all-time pitcher for the HR Derby?
  18. Just got home from work. Nik Turley.... Missing a "c".... missing.... so much more... No words.....
  19. Ehhh, fashionable to claim that, but they won 91 games in '88 but just missed the playoffs pre-wild card. Less flukey than people think. Young teams can improve rapidly and go further than expected from time to time.
  20. As I've said before, the only players any team would give up a legit pitcher for is Sano, Buxton, or Kepler. All of those guys are apparently untouchable. We also don't want to waste the years we have that core. Our have them succumb to the malaise of losing. Bundling half the organization's prospects isn't feasible either. All our chips have flamed out, gotten hurt, moved to the pen. The guys I'd dangle for pitching are Kepler, and Gordon. Both appear highly coveted, but unlikely to be all-star caliber players. I'd also shop our draft picks pretty hard while teams have some fresh scoring reports and fear of missing out.
  21. If Turley has an out pitch, he should consider throwing it sometime.
  22. I'm with Cheif here. We're dangerously close to sending the message that losing is acceptable. Player's aren't dumb. They notice that their pay checks come in win or lose. If losses pile up, you can let your frustration pile up, or just accept it. If you want players to go through the motions, instill a culture that suggests that games won't matter for a couple years. Then see how prepared you are for games that matter. Wait... that just happened. We need team leadership. We need guys to make everyone feel uncomfortable. Keep everyone accountable. I also agree with Thrylos in a sense. Brian Dozier may be part of the problem. Plouffe was. Nolasco was. Mauer may be. The players need to hold themselves accountable before we get them help. I think we may need to trade or dfa someone just to send a message to the remaining guys.
