  1. Frankly, I think this is all about command of the fastball. If you can consistently hit your spots with even an average fastball, you are going to have some success. Santana's seems to sit at 92-94, which I would say is a little above average. His delivery seems pretty effortless, which is probably a little deceiving also.
  2. Is anyone else getting a little nervous about Kepler in the outfield? He had some pretty iffy moments last year and a couple this spring.....
  3. I don't hold out much hope for his change up. He's quickly abandoned it every year.
  4. I wouldn't be counting on Hughes at this point.............
  5. Sure, my post was a little bit of hyperbole, but there were a lot of people hyping Maddon to the max when there was a ever so slight possibility that he could have been the Twins manager. As for the "work" of the 162 game season, the dude had it made. A loaded lineup, all 5 starting pitchers healthy all season. They made 29,30,30,31 and 32 starts. They traded for a great closer. He didn't have much work to do.
  6. Maybe we can get over the idea that Maddon is some all knowing guru who never makes mistakes. The Cubs won despite his managing, not because of it.
  7. I don't care what some stupid metrics say, Sano is not a better defensive 3rd baseman that Plouffe. I'm sure the "metrics" didn't take into account the time he actually ran away from a freaking pop up.
  8. Meh, Fien hasn't been that good for the Dodgers. Not sure which Guerra you are referencing. Yes Nolaco has been better with the Angels. Lets see if it carries over to next year.
  9. Allen probably needs to go, but it's tough to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
  10. Meh, time to move on. The article says he has a OPS of .786 during the first 25 pitches. That's no great shakes. Dude can't even hold a runner at first.
  11. This. If he hits his spots with his fastball, about 90% of his problems go away. He's getting into hitters counts way to often because he can't throw his fastball for a strike.
  12. One thing I've noticed is that when a teammate hits a homerun or makes a great play and comes in the dugout, he seems genuinely thrilled for that player and the reverse seems to be true too. Just a guess but I bet he is well liked and respected by almost all his teammates.
  13. He's had 233 total at bats, 65 since the all star break.. 40% of his at bats came in May. that's hardly "most" days.
  14. Why people are so invested in a lack of criticism of Danny Santana is beyond me. He the 25th player on the roster. Buxton, Berrios and Sano are a thousand times more important to the team going forward. And all the hand wringing after we traded Arcia for a bag of balls, OMG, he's going to go to another team and flourish blah, blah, blah... he's on his 3rd team in 10 days.
  15. No, but what is annoying, for example this thread, is that the players are totally blameless. Example A: Sano is treated like a freaking GOD around here. Not one speck of criticism allowed! the guy might not have a great work ethic? Impossible!! He's the greatest thing the ever pull on a Twins uniform.
  16. meh, I'm ready to move on from Tonkin. The strikeouts are nice but he doesn't do anything else well. too many HR's allowed, can't hold a runner worth a crap. Seems to let tons of inherited runners score.
  17. I just wish we didn't have to "fix" 75% of our so called top prospects.
  18. Depends which job you are talking about. DH, nothing, 3B, he needs to field the position a hell of a lot better than he did this year. But he won't have to earn the 3B job, they will hand it to him hope he goes from awful to below average in the field.
  19. C'mon nobody hates Buxton. Heck, I think almost all of us hope he turns out to be a great player. But there are more people beginning to question if he's going to even come close to that.
  20. Well, that will be pretty disappointing if he turns into Carlos Gomez. Having a couple very good/great years and getting DFA'ed at the age of 30.
  21. Maybe he just isn't as good as everyone hyped him up to be.
  22. If that's all they ever turn out to be, it doesn't really matter. 1.5 WAR over a career is nothing.
  23. From your link: painfully slow in between pitches; struggles to stay in rhythm; prone to long innings sounds like Pelfrey!
  24. Sano is pretty bad. You can't keep dropping easy pop ups.
  25. yeah, a 1.000 OPS is reasonable expectation for him.
