  1. Because we have no track record of being able to do so? The Twins need a proven ace, period.
  2. His dWAR was -.6 in the 92 games he played. Just by he eye test, he looked to be a below average defender too, IMO. He'll have to continue to hit to make up for that. The league will adjust to him, will he be able to adjust back? We are going to find out...
  3. The Braves got out to a fast start on the relievers market this season, adding Will Smith and bringing back Chris Martin. That is along the lines of what fans wanted the Twins to do last season, but the Twins decided to stick with their same bullpen and it ultimately paid off until the games meant something. FIFY.
  4. Does anyone else think he runs weird? it looks like he kind of shuffles and doesn't pick up his feet much...
  5. Why would Detroit want Rosario? They are in total rebuild mode...
  6. And you have no proof that he was taking PED's. This is from an article about the suspension. "Pineda's suspension was reduced from the standard 80 games to 60 games because he successfully argued he did not take the drug to mask PED use."
  7. MLB didn't think he was masking anything, because that's why his suspension was reduced to 60 games.
  8. He was taking a diuretic. Diuretics are not a PED.
  9. If he's healthy and some team can get him to throw his slider more, they could end up with a pretty good pitcher...
  10. nope. He's going to regress from the season he had at bat this year. Put that at first base and you've got a good 1st baseman but nothing special. Then who catches?
  11. IMO it will be disappointing if he doesn't play a premium defensive position, i.e. SS or CF. Other positions are easier to fill.
  12. Nice reply. I guess i should have elaborated a little more on my original post. The thing with Stewart and Jay is that they didn't even become decent enough prospects at the minor league level to be considered part of a trade package. Of course not all first round picks are going to become stars, but you at least hope they become decent prospects that have trade value. Neither one of those did.....
  13. The big misses on Stewart and Jay hurt a lot.....
  14. Compared to Buxton, He's Lou Gehrig.......
  15. Meaningless? it made the the game 3-1 at the time. Not his fault the bullpen gave up 2 in top of the 9th and Kepler swung and missed (again) and Cruz stood there and took strike 3 in the bottom.
  16. The Twins could never afford Betts...
  17. I don't want to waste Lewis's speed by putting him at 3rd....
  18. Modern day athletes work more than 7 months a year, even if they aren't playing games
  19. "That being said, he might have cost the Twins the game on Wednesday night." Nah, 8 other dudes not hitting the ball cost them the game.
  20. A small point but arbitration can cause issues between club and player, but Gibson took his arbitration loss and moved on. a couple of quotes about it. “We all are very fortunate in here.” “At the end of the day, I’ve got a job. I’m surrounded by a lot of good people who care about me and I’m still going to make a great salary to play baseball,” he said. “It’s a win-loss situation that I’m still pretty satisfied with.”
  21. you just proved my point, they are both idiots for doing something to get suspended, but you you rationalized the action of one of them. I don't really care if people want to do that, but it's a little hypocritical, IMO. Carry on...
  22. Frankly, i think the posters that are accusing him of using PED's are over the line. He wasn't suspended for using a PED, he was suspended for using a banned substance that, among other uses is used to possibly mask a PED.There is a difference, a pretty big one, IMO. They wouldn't have reduced his suspension if there were any hints of him using a PED, say an elevated but not out of range T/E ratio. It's interesting the different reactions to Polanco's suspension compared to Pineda's. But one is home grown draftee who people followed through the minors to the big leagues and the other is an "outsider" who was signed to a relatively low risk high reward flyer.
  23. I don't think the Twins have a realistic chance of signing any of those free agents on other teams.
