No one will claim him because they don’t want to pay him, and Dobnak wont reject the outright assignment, because he wont get better money elsewhere. There’s nothing here to be upset about, from Dobnak’s perspective he gets paid life changing money whether it’s for the Twins or the Saints

    ERA is subject to errors. The Twins were butchers in the field last year, yet they only committed 70 errors, ranked 28 third fewest errors in the league, while also ranked dead last in UZR 150. They had so few errors because they all just stood out there like statues. meanwhile Ryan ranked 8th in WHIP and 32 in WAR, Ober 9th in WHIP and 37th in WAR, and Lopez 47th in WHIP 29 in WAR. It’s good to limit base runners and throw a lot of innings, isn’t it?

    Ryan, Ober and Lopez were all top 40 starting pitchers last year. Last I checked there were 30 mlb teams, so while we can debate defining “ace” if we need to debate what a number 3 starter is, I’ve lost what little faith in the internet I once held…

    He absolutely was a very good pitcher in 23 and 24, and probably was more of a top 30 pitcher in ‘24. Agreed he does have the Twins best shot at it for Twins starters. But let’s be realistic here. The difference between number 5 and 30 is bigger than the difference between 30 and 55.

    All he has to do is increase his innings and strikeouts 15% and decrease his clunkers 75% from his best season in the bigs while not allowing his other variables change significantly. piece of cake, I wonder why he hasn’t done it yet?

    As someone who’s lived in the dead zone in NW Wi where no TV carries the Twins but I’m in Twins territory on MLB.tv, it’s really nice being able to watch opening day from my office, while ostensibly working, then listening on my drive, now watching again while at my kids sports.

    It’s all private money, so Pohlad companies can sell off debt with an asset to clean up their books. Having been a part of private and public divestitures, that same tactic was used in all 3 of them.

    During Spring Training, the “assigned” to Twins is when a minor leaguer plays a split squad major league game as a fill-in without being “called up” as a major leaguer.
