  1. IMHO I would not take a pitcher with a top five pick. I believe the Twins will have only 3 shots for the gold, and I would be more comfortable taking position players. Once again, this is only my opinion. By the way, I wanted the college catcher over Buxton, so I try to keep a low profile on draft matters.
  2. Jeremy, I don't care which Perkins deal you do, as long as you do one. Getting 2 starting pitching prospects would be huge. That leaves us with our first pick for a SS next draft.
  3. So true. I didn't want Stewart because I thought it was too high to take a pitcher. Ryan likes pitchers with 1-2+ years of pro experience and I think that may help, but no one is immune.
  4. I'm starting to lean that way also. IMO the Hicks experiment is working. Good way to put butts in the seats.
  5. Jim, I agree with you. Much more enthusiasm on this board than in Cubbie land. 3 more wins, 8th rated farm system, spend big on 16 years olds projected to need 5-8 years to develop, meh. I don't assign extra points for making trades prior to the deadline.
  6. I agree. The Twins still desperately need additional starting pitching prospects, but no way I would pass up our SS of the future. Ryan knows he has only so many solid shots. With Perkins and then the 2014 draft, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't pick up a SP and SS, in whatever order. After that IMO things get more complicated and expensive.
  7. I agree with you to the point that we do not know the names of 2 of our 2015 starters. Ryan has been here 18 months, which IMHO is a very short time to completely retool a starting pitching staff. My hope is to get one for Perkins, no idea where we find the other. I won't look past 2015.
  8. Good job! I would keep him after reading your article.
  9. Jay, respectfully disagree. I hate to see a Gopher leave, but IMO the only thing that can stop the parade is the lack of starting pitching. If we can get the haul you and Brock believe is possible, I feel we should take it.
  10. I agree with you Seth. One of the few positive things about our being in position to give almost endless auditions is it gives the long time minor leaguers a chance to play on the big stage. I'd like to see him play.
  11. I don't think it's mandatory, in fact it's the furthest thought from my mind. What's an excuse morph?
  12. I know I'm not. If the Twins money is burning a hole in somebody's pocket I would think Longoria contracts for Buxton and Sano.
  13. Good job! I was happy the old eyeball test was mentioned prominently. Definitely not in vogue on todays upscale fan boards.
  14. Gardy is not going anywhere. The future is getting a little clearer everyday and there is no pressure whatsoever to make a change. The Twins will stay the course, as is their way. As the Twins view themselves this has been an okay year.
  15. Two of our top 3 have arrived on Ryan's watch, plus May and Berrois. I can't help but think that's pretty impressive for 18 months. I'm too lazy to do the research, but I wonder if any other GM has been able to accomplish that. IMHO it's pretty hard to minimize Ryan's role in all this.
  16. Seth, I don't think that will be quick enough for the board. Any way you can pull some strings and speed up the process?
  17. I completely agree with you, but it's just the nature of fan boards. Thielbar is kind of the flavor of the day. I'm just hoping no one takes the opportunity to start criticizing Ryan for not trading Sano when his value was highest.
  18. One may longingly look at the Indians and their 26th rated farm system as a model of short term success. One could also make the argument that the Twins with their farm system, if they chose to denude it of their top rated prospects, could catch the Indians this season, if they so chose.
  19. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but wouldn't it make sense to wait the 24 days to see if they do, before pointing the finger that they didn't?
  20. Hands down the first one.
  21. I think Ryan will do the right thing and get us a starting pitcher, hopefully one who is major league ready. Plenty of innings to offer this season.
  22. You can certainly argue it, but what no one can do is prove it. 25 days in baseball is a long time. An organization with a gun to it's head, which fortunately the Twins are not, may well feel their cupboard is far from barren of deadline commodities if they had prospects such as Buxton and Sano.
