  1. What was that first pitch from Winder in Tom's video? Oh my lord
  2. I think it's pretty lame to hit a homerun off a position player on a 3-0 count when you're up by 10 runs. However, when a position player is pitching, batters need to be up there swinging so they can put the ball in play and get the game over with. No one is striking out. We can't be telling batters to just give up. On the flip side of this, the Twins still have an at bat. There's no running out the clock in baseball. Obviously incredibly unlikely, but it's not like a team hasn't scored 10 runs in an inning before. We can't be asking the White Sox batters to give up and not ask the Twins batters to do the same.
  3. Glad to see Cavaco get off to a good start, even if it has only been two games. I'm sure that was a very long wait for him after his performance in the GCL.
  4. I really don't like reading that the pick we used at #1 in the draft still has swing mechanics and defensive play questions at this point. Hopefully he made big strides in that last year while no one was watching.
  5. This is hilarious. If you don't like it, then don't lose.
  6. Something to also ponder is Byron Buxton's defense. He's a game changer out there. In a 60 game season it creates an interesting dynamic. Every single game matters. Because of that, I don't want him playing cautiously out in center. On the other hand, every game matters so we can't afford to have him missing a few days here and there for minor injuries, or worse.
  7. Seems like some people are forgetting quite a bit about how the MLB draft works. You never draft based on the needs of the big league team. Best case scenario this guy gets a mid-season call up two years from now. Nelson Cruz is not going to be on the team by then. If it takes 3 years, then Miguel Sano would be on the last year of his current contract. We can only guess what the roster will look like 2-3 years from now. This also goes without saying that if Sabato shoots up the minor leagues in two years he is going to be a guy you find a spot for. Secondly, at this point in the draft the expectation for a player is they will probably make the big leagues but who knows/not much past that. It's hard to get excited about a hit only 1B/DH in the first round. The Twins clearly think he's a good hitter and if he mashes it won't matter that people weren't excited about the pick.
  8. With the position the team seems to be in, it's hard to say anything less than a World Series is a success. In reality, winning the World Series is very hard. I'd say minimum for a successful season is playing in the ALCS.
  9. I moved to Minneapolis back in the summer. Definitely planning on making it this year for the first time!
  10. I would be very unhappy if another move isn’t made today. I would definitely question my level of support going forward. That’s coming from someone who was excited to watch the Twins every day during all the 90+ loss seasons. I know the few posts I have made are risk averse when it comes to trading prospects, but if not now, when? The Twins have a great offense comprised of young players entering their primes. They have one of the deepest prospect pools in all of MLB. Go get some pitchers!
  11. What I would be willing to give up for a top tier pitcher is largely dependent on the years of team control for that pitcher. I’m not giving up Lewis for less than 3 years of the pitcher in return. The Twins can’t afford to make trades like that unless the financial strategy changes drastically. Now other prospects are more expendable because of depth or talent. But the Twins always need to give a little consideration to the future when trading prospects.
  12. Has there been any indication from the front office that they would consider Graterol for the bullpen later this year? I mean I guess with how he is pitching they may even have to consider him for the starting rotation.
  13. Why is no one discussing the fact that Buxton came to a complete stop, took two little hop steps, and threw the ball 98.6 mph over 256 ft to get the runner out at the plate? That's amazing.
  14. I was not a believer of Perez after his relief outings. Man I was wrong. He has been great so far
  15. Hopefully the Twins can take advantage of a weak schedule this week. Really need Gibson and Odorizzi to step up. I think Perez could look good in the bullpen. It doesn't make sense to me that the Twins have had 5 off days (plus a postponement) to begin the season and are now playing 37 games in 38 days. Why couldn't some of those off days be distributed throughout the season?
  16. Taylor Rogers was there last night. He hasn't pitched since Sunday. He is clearly our best reliever and has been devastating against LHB. The Mets had a LHB up to bat with the bases loaded and 2 outs in a 1 run game. I'm not singling you out, but so many people aren't mentioning this. It was a no-brainer to put in Taylor Rogers. Sure Kimbrel or someone would really help, but we can't act like we had no one to put in for that situation. Baldelli blew that one.
  17. That's the first time I've seen video of Cole Sands. Very impressed. One of those fastballs was clocked at 98. He has a sharp curveball and showcased a change-up as well.
  18. Twins are winning the division this year. You heard it here first. Unless it doesn't happen. Then I heard it from Seth first.
